Excellent Tour - Had great fun on this trip seeing the Welch countryside with the very knowledgeable Gareth Bates at the helm. We saw things I never would have had we not taken this tour. Well worth the money. Thanks Gareth for the memorable trip.

I had so much fun on... - I had so much fun on Gareth’s tour! It was a long day, but it felt like we spent the perfect amount of time at each of the locations while learning plenty of facts about Welsh history and culture. Gareth comes from a background in history—and you can tell just how passionate he is about sharing his knowledge with others! He’s a wealth of information and had plenty to cool facts to share on some rather obscure topics. Thanks for the welshcakes, and absolutely everything else Gareth! :)

Well done indeed! - My wife and myself did the Valley Tour. The tour groups are small ( 8 max) so you are not going to get lost in the crowd so to speak. This stood out pre- tour with great communication from Gareth who was extremely accommodating. The tour was very well paced with not excessive travel time given the ground covered and just the right amount of time at each location visited. Down sides - none. Positives - communications, sites visited, overall pace and knowledgable guide who shared his knowledge between sites. Recommended.

Gareth is a winner - Gareth was a valuable history expert. Both in language and interesting asides to ancient and modern history. He spoke our language AND we soaked it up like a sponge. 7 people were on our tour. He had some personal connection with each of us. It’s so nice to be catered to with dropping us off to have our choices already covered. As a fellow teacher I appreciate his telling us with super clear instructions what to do.

Good tour for those wanting to visit castles - The trip was fine to see a couple of small towns and to see a few castles. We learned a lot though our guide talked too fast for me to get more than about 60% of his information. He was a very nice guy. Unfortunately we travelled all of the way to Wales to see the coast area and somehow we didn’t get that tour, they have both. Likely my mixup.

Just ok - If you're mostly looking for transportation to the castles because you don't have a car then this tour is fine. There was very little info about the history of Wales. We learned a little bit but I would not consider it in depth. I wish I had learned more about each of the castles rather than relying on the audio guides. We decided to do a sit down lunch at Caerphilly but it took up most of our time and we barely got to see the castle so keep that in mind when choosing a place to eat.

Glorified Taxi - This tour offered 2 choices- Castles or Swansea Bay. We originally wanted castles but Gareth said the Bay choice was a better one. We feel we may have chose poorly. The drive was very long. We stopped at a seaside town which was breathtaking. Then a drive to a small town which was basically a lunch stop. The Abbey stop was nice but not much to do/see. The last stop was a waterfall but seemed more like a restroom break and then the long ride back to Cardiff. Although Gareth was pleasant and knowledgable, it was an expensive tour for what you got to experience and felt like we spent most of our time in the van. Bottled water would have been a nice touch as is usually provided on private tours.
