Roald Dahl Plass - Named after the renowned children’s author and Cardiff native, Roald Dahl Plass celebrates one of the city’s famous cultural icons. Educated at Llandaff Cathedral School, Roald Dahl is celebrated throughout Cardiff. The Water Tower, a water fountain designed by Nicholas Hare Architects and sculptor William Pye, is the most iconic feature of Roald Dahl Plass and is recognized as one of the entrances to the Torchwood Hub. After exploring Roald Dahl Plass, your guide will recommend nearby dining options, including a fantastic Italian restaurant featured in the filming of “Boomtown.” This offers a chance to explore Cardiff Bay and enjoy a meal before continuing the tour.

Portland House - Portland House was once the site of the Cardiff Dock branch of the National Provincial Bank, later becoming National Westminster Bank. It is reputed to be where the first Million Pound Cheque was cashed. The Coal Exchange Hotel - The Exchange Hotel, formerly the Coal Exchange in Cardiff, is famous for being the site of the first 1 Million Pound deal in 1904. The surrounding area is rich with Doctor Who filming locations, used in episodes such as “Rise of the Cybermen” and “The Lie of the Land.” Here, your guide will explain how the Doctor Who team manages to film in such a public location without being overwhelmed by fans.
After leaving Cardiff Bay, the tour will drive through the Butetown Tunnel, featured in both “The Planet of the Dead” and “Spyfall Part One & Two.”
- St Fagans National Museum of History - As part of the tour, we will visit Wales’ most popular tourist attraction, home to numerous historic buildings preserved through reconstruction at St Fagan’s Museum. Several of these buildings have appeared in a popular Tenth Doctor episode, and more recently, structures at St Fagans have been featured in the season 12 finale episodes “Ascension of the Cybermen” and “The Timeless Children.”
St Fagans is also where we will take a lunch break, either in their excellent cafe or, if preferred, guests may bring their own packed lunch or picnic to enjoy within the grounds.
