Solo Reflections on Robben Island - I just returned from a solo tour of Robben Island, and it was a profoundly moving experience. Walking through the prison cells where Nelson Mandela spent 18 years of his life was a humbling reminder of the sacrifices made for freedom and equality. The island's history is palpable, and I found myself lost in thought as I wandered through the limestone quarry and the courtyard where Mandela and other prisoners took their daily exercise. Our guide's stories brought the island's history to life, and I appreciated the opportunity to reflect on the significance of this place. The ferry ride to the island was lovely, with stunning views of Table Mountain and the Atlantic Ocean. As a solo traveler, I enjoyed the flexibility to take my time and absorb the island's atmosphere without distraction. If you're visiting Cape Town and considering a solo trip to Robben Island, I highly recommend it.
