• Contermanskloof Road - The Contermanskloof Road is a lovely country side road and prevent the use of main roads to get to the off-road section of the tour.

• Kalbaskraal - This small farming locality is located on the way to Darling.

• Darling Cellars - We pass the Darling Cellars, producer of the well known Classic, Reserve and Heritage wines.

• Darling - Darling is a small town in a farming area on the west coast region of the Western Cape, about 75 km (46.6 mi) from Cape Town.

At the beginning of the 18th century about 29 farmers lived in an area called Groenkloof and on one of these farms, Langfontein, Darling was founded in 1853. It was named after Sir Charles Henry Darling who came in 1851 to the Cape as Lieutenant Governor.

Discover the charm of the old railway service road to Darling with a small dual-sport motorbike, starting from and returning to Bellville (Cape Town), during a full day guided tour. After a short warm-up ride (30’) on country roads, you will meet the first gravel road, where some skill and safety exercises are planned. Leaving the gravel, you will then ride the trail along the old railway, with a short challenging escapade into the surrounding hills, all the way to the picturesque little town of Darling. On the way back, and although the railway road remains the guiding thread, several variations will allow you to experience some sand riding and navigate through the “fynbos” fields of the Rivelands reserve. This 180km tour is absolutely suitable for off-road beginners (you need a valid driving license for motorcycles <35kW) and is a fantastic opportunity to discover the joy of riding in a challenging environment.
