- Camps Bay - Nestled between Clifton and Llandudno beaches, and framed by the magnificent Twelve Apostles mountain range and the sparkling Atlantic Ocean, Camps Bay is one of Cape Town’s most stunning suburbs. The breathtaking scenery, immaculate white sands, and brilliant blue waters clearly justify Camps Bay Beach’s Blue Flag Beach status. Although it is one of the few Cape Town beaches on the Western seaboard not shielded from the South East Wind, Camps Bay beach remains a lively spot frequented by families, fashionable singles, tourists, and more. Camps Bay is a highly sought-after suburb offering luxurious accommodations in Cape Town. Properties in Camps Bay easily fetch several million, and staying in this desirable area has become a tradition for many visitors who return repeatedly to bask in the sun and enjoy the vibrant street culture.
- Chapman’s Peak Drive - Chapman’s Peak Drive, located between Noordhoek and Hout Bay on the Atlantic Coast at the South-Western tip of South Africa, is affectionately known as “Chappies.” It is one of the world’s most spectacular marine drives. Constructed between 1915 and 1922, Chapman’s Peak is an 11 km long route with 114 curves, and the peak stands 166 meters above sea level. The drive offers numerous picnic spots with excellent facilities and countless viewpoints. Each year, Southern Right Whales visit the Cape Point Route coastline, and “Chappies” is a prime location to observe these gentle giants’ breaching and blowing behaviors from an elevated vantage point.
- Cape Point - Many mistakenly believe Cape Point is where the Atlantic and Indian Oceans meet, but the actual meeting point is at Cape Agulhas. The rugged rocks and towering cliffs, rising over 200 meters above the sea and extending deep into the ocean, create a stunning backdrop for the park’s rich biodiversity. Cape Point is part of the Southern section of Table Mountain National Park. The area’s natural vegetation, known as fynbos, is the smallest yet richest of the world’s six floral kingdoms. Visitors can take the Funicular (a 3-minute ride each way) or walk from the parking lot to the Old Lighthouse. Hungry visitors can enjoy a meal at Cape Point’s long-standing restaurant, which features large sea-facing windows offering views reminiscent of Mediterranean summers. A hike from Cape Point to the Cape of Good Hope, or vice versa, is also possible and takes about 35 to 45 minutes each way.
- Cape of Good Hope - Enjoy taking photos, hiking, and admiring the view.
- Simon’s Town - Simon’s Town is a charming village located 40 km outside the city. Visitors can explore Victorian architecture, the Naval Base, and the statue of Just Nuisance, who was formally enrolled in the Royal Navy with the title of Able Seaman. Simon’s Town itself is a quaint and intriguing town. The waterfront is an attractive area with numerous small boutiques offering clothing, art, and souvenirs. There is an excellent selection of restaurants within walking and driving distance. The town is renowned for its Naval Museum, Toy Museum, and Simon’s Town Cultural Museum. The Scratch Patch is a popular tourist attraction where visitors can search for a variety of beautiful gemstones. Simon’s Town is also the seat of the South African Navy and boasts a charming coastal town atmosphere with a vibrant history.
- Boulders Beach Penguin Colony - Visit Boulders Beach, home to a thriving colony of vulnerable African Penguins. Known as Jackass Penguins due to their distinctive donkey-like braying, they are the only penguins found on the continent. Colonies are located from Southern Namibia around the Southern African coasts. The penguins first arrived in False Bay in 1983, and with abundant food, the colony quickly grew. Unfortunately, commercial fishing and marine pollution have impacted the colony. In 1910, there were approximately one-and-a-half million penguins, but by 1982, only two breeding pairs remained. Thanks to incredible conservation efforts, the Boulders Colony has grown to over 3,500 birds in recent years. Visitors can walk with the penguins or use the wooden walkways to view them in their natural habitat up close.
