Great Food Tour and Guide - This tour was excellent and our guide was great. He provided much more than just a food tour and the foods of Africa we ate were very good.

Had a lovely time - Simphiwe was a wonderful guide. My husband and I shared our tour with a lovely family from Italy and were taken to 3 different locations. Our guide was full of information about the food, culture and history of Cape Town and the surrounding areas. The food was really good (completely new tastes to us!) and the amount provided was just right. The restaurant staff at each place was very friendly as well. It was a walking tour but the distances between each stop were just several blocks. We happened to be staying at the holiday Inn which was central to all three restaurants. At the end of the tour, we only walked two blocks to get home and we felt perfectly safe.

A Perfect Afternoon Adventure - It's was a last second booking, and I'm so glad we went! Simphiwe was an incredible guide and he shared much about not only the food we were eating, but about the lives of different African people, the history of the places we visited, proper dining etiquette, and his good humor and heart. He was warmly greeted by the owners and workers of the 3 different locations we dined and we felt welcome. We left the tour stuffed with delicious foods and with more knowledge. A five star tour for sure!

The tour was excellent and well worth it. - The guide was excellent. He was very informative and the food and wine was superb. I enjoyed learning about the Black African wine makers. The food from the restaurants included South African,Mali, and Ethiopian food. They were also excellent.

Great tour! - This review is for the taste of Johannesburg. My hosts Nkosi and Puthi were great! They were able to introduce me to different cuisines and were knowledgeable about the neighborhoods we were in. It was a great way to get to know Joburg. Highly recommend.

Agreat discovery of Africa food - We went through the city by walk to get to each restaurant and discovered a different type of Africa’s food Trendy our guide was very nice and took care of all of questions with passion Also good to be with him as the evening time in this area does not seem fully safe

My sister and I booked... - My sister and I booked this tour as did 5 other members of our group. This tour should not be booked as late as this was offered. It started at 5:00 and all the workers were closing up shop and going home. It was getting dark and cold and with the workers going home and the areas we had to walk through seemed to some to not be worth the risk after dark. Our guide was FANTASTIC, and I did not personally feel unsafe, but some did. We were walking through areas our hotel told us to avoid. Also, we did not understand that this tour was a walking tour with very long distances between restaurants 1 & 2 and # 3 and the wine tasting. It was cold after dark and we were not prepared for the distances we were walking. The first restaurant was trying to close when we showed up. Our guide did very well putting a good spin on the meal, but we had to wait 30 minutes, nothing was served to drink, even water, and one of the servers had cut their finger and were serving and preparing food while bleeding into a bandage/finger covering. That was very off putting to those who saw it and they refused to eat. The food prepared was authentic and the vegetable trays were lovely, but it was not seasoned and there was only sauce in one small bowl of beef stew. We had to wait 30 minutes for the food. We then walked a very long way to a not very good Ethiopian restaurant and we had the restaurant to ourselves which seemed weird. We had to wait 30 minutes for food there, but were able to order drinks at least. Both restaurants severed full course family style meals. Two members of our tour did not want to wait for food nor did they feel safe, so they left via uber. Our guide did everything possible to keep us safe and get us to our cars. By the time the rest of the group finished the second meal it was already almost 7:30. We still had the Malawaian restaurant to go and also a 13 minute walk after that to the wine part of the tour. We were full, cold and tired and not having a good food experience, so we ended the tour. The guide did point out very interesting things and landmarks while we were walking. He stayed with us to make sure we got our ride home ok.

Felt very unsafe - Simphiwe was a very nice guide clearly with the best intentions so I have no criticism of him personally but we did not feel safe AT ALL walking through the areas of Cape Town covered in the tour, particularly in the dark evening hours. (We were six women with one slight guide.) We abandoned the tour and Ubered back to our hotel before it was half through. There were no wine parings offered as described (no beverages at all at the first stop). At the second restaurant visited there were no other patrons except for a slumped-over man at the next table. We were also taken aback by the request to sign an indemnity immediately before the tour.

Not good - I sent an email requesting help with my tour and did not receive a response. I was unable to attend the tour as my earlier tour changed their times and I was not back in time. Very disappointed to be ignored. I hope you enjoyed my payment as I did not!
