Highlights
  • Langa - HOST EXAMPLE:
The lead Zumba entrepreneur has a one-of-a-kind flare and personality that makes you come alive. On a water break, he will share his inspiring story of how dance and exercise got him out of a life as a gangster.

On the drive to Langa (if ‘Hotel Pickup add-on’ added), your guide will give you some key information about where you’re headed, who the community partners are, what you’ll experience, and general best practices to bear in mind.

Upon arrival, you’ll be greeted by the community partners and your guide will help break the ice a bit before jumping into the African Zumba & Stories experience.

Try your hand (and foot) at some of the local styles: African Dance, Afro-Fusion, Kasi Jive, Pantsula, Kwela, Traditional Xhosa & Traditional Tswana.

The time together is always dynamic and responsive to guest preferences, but generally it’s evenly split 3 ways: (A) Zumba dancing, (B) Storytelling & advocacy, (C) Grace time & natural interaction.

Dance not your thing? Jam out on our djembe drums!

N.B. NOTE: Kids from a community-based after-school program will only be present if you book an option that includes the ‘Kids add-on’.

Additional Information

Immerse yourself in an experience led by a native innovator! Dive into the motivative realm beneath the surface of Cape Town’s typical tourist routes.

A Side by Side adventure is an excellent, immersive method to bypass the standard tourist path, live like a native, and create an impact. A portion of each reservation directly supports the innovators we collaborate with through annual presents: gear, scholarships, and direct financial assistance.

To ensure your innovator-led experience is hiccup-free and every guest requirement is fulfilled, an SbS guide will accompany you from start to finish, from the time of pick-up to the point of drop-off (if the Hotel Pickup extra is selected). Your guide will equip you with all the necessary background information and manage entry costs on your behalf.

Optionally, for high-definition photographs/videos captured during your participation delivered via Google Drive on the same day, add the Photoshoot extra.

Educate, laugh, dream, bond, and transform as an individual after this shared experience with incredibly motivational natives.

Great experience in Langa - This was an interesting surprise…a gift. We booked expecting to go hear music and maybe play a drum. But WOW! We booked this along with a jewelry making class and ended up spending an immersive afternoon in the township of Langa with our guide, Songs. We went to the township cultural center and had a drumming lesson—so fun — and we’re able to buy some local handicrafts. We then went to the home of Henry who played many instruments. He is a musician and teacher and was joined initially by one of his students. We were invited to join in with some instruments and my granddaughter was given some instructions so she could really join in. The fun was when the neighbors and children dropped in and joined the singing and playing. Everyone was so open and friendly. What a blast! Everyone should spend an afternoon in the township to begin to understand the history and culture of this region of the world
