The Caño Negro Wildlife Refuge and the Rio Frío are recognized as some of the most biologically diverse wetland areas in Costa Rica. This sanctuary is home to an abundant variety of both local and migratory avian species, in addition to housing three distinct species of monkeys, iguanas, sloths, turtles, and caimans.
As we travel along the river, we may observe troops of howler monkeys, bands of spider monkeys, and groups of white-faced monkeys. We might also catch sight of the three-toed sloth and various reptilian inhabitants like caimans, the Jesus Christ lizard, and numerous turtle species.
The excursion comes complete with a traditional Costa Rican meal, an array of local fruits, fresh natural beverages, and coffee. These are all conveniently provided for the enjoyment of our guests at the Río Frío Restaurant; alongside natural juices, bottled water, assorted fruits, and cookies.
