The best - This is the best pirate ship ever we’ve done! We’ve been on a couple, this is by far the most interactive. It was longer than I anticipated but the whole family loved it. They were so engaging with the crowd. Bonnie was as great with our family!! Definitely recommend, totally worth it.

Shiver me timbers what an awesome show!!! - We had an absolute blast on this interactive pirate dinner and show cruise! It’s so much fun for all ages!!! We danced, did shots of tequila, ate a lovely steak and lobster meal and enjoyed spiced rum and diet all through the wonderful show!!! This was my boyfriend’s first time and he had the best time!!! I had done this back in 2019 and the location of the boat is now a bit farther from the hotel zone, but Amstar provided us door to door transportation to and from the Jolly Roger ship. The captain and her crew kept us captivated with laughs and ooooos and aahhhhs through out the whole excursion/show! I recommend this dinner and show to anyone who is ready to have FUN!!! Thank you for a great time and memorable experience!!

Pirate dinner show, best melodrama theater EVER! - This was the best part of my recent trip to Cancun. The show was phenomenal, dinner was enjoyable, and the crew was really hospitable (given they were pirates). It was like going to a concert and a play simultaneously.

Well worth the money! - We went to this our honeymoon. The show was really engaging and fun! The food was great and the staff was wonderful! The ship was really well done and the pirates took as many pics as we wanted! We would have bought souvenirs if they had USD change. Totally recommend this as a great alternative to the R rated nightlife available in the Hotel Zone of Cancun. Just Do It!

Not Worth the Price – Better for Adults Than Little Ki - I recently went to the Jolly Roger Pirate Show with my 4-year-old daughter, and while we were excited for a fun family night, I left pretty disappointed overall. Food (2/5): We splurged on the surf and turf, and I wish we hadn’t. The lobster was decent, but the steak was so overcooked it was basically a brick. When I sent it back, there was no apology, no attempt to make it right — nothing. For the price, that was frustrating. If you do go, skip the pricey upgrades and just order the pasta. My daughter’s kids’ meal was a mix of pizza, fries, mozzarella sticks, and chicken nuggets. I appreciate the variety, but none of it was particularly good. Service (2/5): Our server was also part of the show, which meant we barely saw them once the performance started. Drinks took forever, and we felt forgotten. On top of that, they ask for a tip at the end — and then again for the band and show staff. It all felt a bit like a cash grab, especially considering the lackluster service. Show (2/5): Here’s where I really wish I’d known more beforehand: if your child is under 6 or 7, I would skip this. The pirate theme seems kid-friendly at first, but once the gunfire starts and the actors are running around shouting, it gets intense fast. My daughter spent most of the show hiding in my lap. It’s an odd mix — part family show, part boozy party — and the two don’t blend well. The one bright spot was the woman playing the captain — she was fantastic and really owned the stage. Overall: If you’re going as a group of adults or with older kids, you might enjoy it more. But for families with younger children, I can’t recommend it. Between the overpriced, underwhelming food, poor service, and a show that’s too intense for little ones, it just didn’t live up to the hype or the price tag.

Not worth it. Waste of my day - Paid almost $500 for the experience for our honeymoon to get out and explore. Was not worth the money in the slightest. Food was not the best and didn’t like the forced asking for tips at the end.

Honest Review – Disappointing Value for Money - Honest Review – Disappointing Value for Money I wanted to share an honest perspective to balance some of the glowing reviews here. Everyone has different expectations, but for us this simply didn’t justify the price. 💰 Cost & Value We purchased the Deluxe (VIP) package for 2 adults and 2 children (ages 7 & 10) via Viator, expecting a discount that never materialised. With dock fees and taxis from the Hotel Zone, the total was over £450 an eye-watering amount for what you actually get. Even at the discounted rate (£350), I still wouldn’t consider this good value. For comparison, in London you could enjoy a first-class West End show with a nice dinner for less money. 🎟️ Viator & Jolly Roger – Poor Experience We booked through Viator after Jolly Roger told us their online discount would apply. It didn’t. Both companies refused to honour it and brushed off our complaint. Viator in particular was useless essentially an automated chatbot with no real customer support. That lack of empathy left a very sour taste. 🎭 The Show The first part is essentially a “drunk pirate” wandering around dull for kids. After dinner, the main performance improves with some fun and entertaining moments, though the story is weak and it drags in places. My children were bored at times, though they enjoyed the odd highlight. 🍽️ The Meal We went VIP, which included a small steak and one prawn. It was average at best, certainly not in line with the price. Those on the main deck seemed to get more interaction with the show while we were sat up above. Paying extra for “VIP” felt like a waste you’re further away from the action and the food doesn’t make up for it. 👨‍✈️ Staff The staff were the highlight genuinely enthusiastic, engaging with both kids and adults, and clearly working hard. No complaints there. That said, the show ends with staff asking for tips. Given the steep ticket price, this felt pushy and left us uncomfortable. ⛵ The Boat Trip Don’t expect much sailing. The ship leaves the dock, stops in the bay, and stays put while you eat and watch the show. If you’re looking for an actual cruise experience, this isn’t it. ⚖️ Final Thoughts Pros: Friendly staff, a few fun show moments, kids enjoyed some parts. Cons: Hugely overpriced, average food, disappointing “VIP” upgrade, misleading discount issue, weak customer service from both Viator and Jolly Roger. Even if the discount had been honoured, I still wouldn’t consider it value for money. With better customer care, we might have felt differently, but sadly the way this was handled has put us off entirely. Recommendation: If you want a pirate-themed evening for the kids, weigh this carefully against the cost. Personally, I’d suggest looking elsewhere or at least avoiding Viator.

The worst experience in Cancun - It is horrible, the food is filthy and poor quality, the boat is dirty and very uncomfortable, the show is extremely bad, it cost me 400 dollars and I felt I lost the money, 3 hours of suffering I just wanted to get off that boat, the people who attended force you to tip almost threaten you if you do not hit them. And of course I would tip them if they offered a good Service but it's so bad, definitely my worst experience in Cancun. If you have the opportunity to go, miss it!
