Perfect mix of history and relaxation. - This tour was a great way to experience Chichen Itza without feeling rushed. The guide was knowledgeable and kept things interesting the whole time. The buffet had plenty of local options and everything tasted fresh. Swimming in Cenote Saamal was definitely a highlight, and Valladolid was a nice, colorful stop to wrap up the day.

Ok, but rushed and doesn't feel genuine - All my family agreed collectively on 6.5 out of 10 overall. Positives: Mayan dancers, Chitzen Itza itself, the cenote, the Valladolid town (especially the church). Negatives: quite poor organisation, quite a bit of waiting for the whole group unnecessarily, buffet at the Mayan village supposedly unlimited, but served by the locals who will only put e.g. one chicken drumstick on your plate, no alone time at Chitzen Itza. Tips tips tips expected everywhere. Also therr is 40usd tax per person collected at the start of the trip, plus you cannot enter the cenote without a life vest which is also charged on top (5usd pp)

Meets - Comply with the agreed, the dining room is not bad, but as soon as you arrive you are made to enter a place that sells souvenirs, then at lunch you have dancers and a typical dance of the Maya, while you eat, it is not very comfortable that, as super aimed at tourism, nothing feels real and indigenous. Then they take you to chichen itza, which is very well, to my taste I lack more info, but I understand that in the heat it is a little explanation. the cenote is fantastic, but you also have 1 hour (which is actually 40 min) since you have to rent life jacket and leave the clothes in lokers that are worth 5 you. The visit to valladolid is very short, it is basically a stop, 20 minutes. It is all well and compliant, maybe it is many things for a single day, to my liking goes a long time at lunch, I would give more time to the cenote or villadoid.

Waste of time and money - Awful. The trip was supposed to be 2 hours to get to the first stop but the coach took a 5.5 hour route. The whole way the tour guide was telling stories that were blatantly untrue to sell us something (eg Tesla leaned about energy from the locals and chitchen itza - pretty hard as he never went to Mexico!) The traditional buffet at the first stop is actually a massive gift shop. You are herded through and forced to listen to why you should buy things. If you don’t the staff are almost aggressive as are the tour guides from the bus. They tried to sell us 4 little statues for $800 and when we didn’t want them they were furious. They sold us a cold drink before the food - perfect. But once we got to the restaurant they made us leave the drinks we had just bought as they are not allowed in the restaurant! So we have to buy a second drink. The food was ok but cold and impossible to get to due to crowds of about 15 bus loads. We were held in a room selling chocolate for 20 minutes. The room was locked. We just had to listen to why we should be buying the chocolate (at approx £15 per small bag). We then went to chitchen itza - we paid the bus operator the “cost of the ticket” to make it quicker apparently. Once we were handed the ticket we realised we had been charged an additional 50% on the cost. And the window to have bought it at actual price was completely available with no queue. Just another con one after the other. We didn’t carry on with the rest of the tour. We left the bus and paid £150 for a taxi back to our hotel as we couldn’t stand the thought of another 7 hours on that bus. Lots of families did the same. Avoid at all costs. If you are planning to see chichen itza hire a car and drive straight there.

Do not use this company - The company running the experience was not responsive to questions. We asked where to meet the tour the night before and they gave us incorrect information. We were texting them the morning of, and they were unresponsive. When we finally learned where they were, they gave us no time to get to them before leaving us.

Beware of extreme hidden costs! - This tour is a scam. Beware - there are approximately US $200 in hidden costs for "life jackets"! When I said we didn’t want to swim, they said that the fee is still payable before getting on the bus anyway. They refused to give my money back. That I spent when booking the trip.
