- Templo de Kukulkan - The Castillo or Pyramid of Kukulcan is a four-sided pyramid with a rectangular temple on top. The remarkable “light and shadow” phenomenon, showcasing the Maya’s architectural and astronomical advancements, occurs on the north staircase of the Castle during the Spring Equinox, where a snake appears to descend the stairs. The sun casts seven triangles of light on the balustrade on the northeast side of the Castle, creating the silhouette of a descending serpent.
