Outstanding tour of the water - land indigenous culture and wildlife tour - Our excursion today was magnificent! The scenery was beautiful and we learned many things about the animals as well as the land. Our tour guides, Janet and Wayne were extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and kind. Highly recommended i - This tour was pretty much what I could have asked it to be. Our guides, captain Guy and Janet were fabulous. We really appreciated Janet who shared some of her personal experiences and told us stories, sang songs and shared her knowledge. The scenery was beautiful. I wasn’t expecting that the abandoned village would be a construction site but all good. It was fun to weave the brackets and taste forest food. All in all a great tour

Fantastic trip! - What a beautiful trip with some great guides.
Steve - a personable guy with good local knowledge and captain of a brand new, state of the art boat.
Casey - such a well spoken educator with moving stories of her family and broader community and their relationship with the local area.
Lucky enough to see a humpback mother and calf onroute to the island along with a heap of sea lions.
Our young family really enjoyed the trip - thanks again…

Having Time of Our Life - For anyone desiring to learn more about First Nations' Culture and the natural wildlife and environment of the B.C. northwest coast this tour is an opportunity to be taken. Out pilot, Ron started by reviewing the safety features and procedures of the boat, which reassured me.
We were fortunate to see seals, sea lions, a pod of orcas, and a mother (with calf) humpback whale! The air was clear, clean, and fresh, with no cottage or other boats to be seen, giving the feeling of being at one with nature. The seascapes and landscapes were breathtaking.
At Aupe, there is a brand-new treated timber and concrete, long dock. Aupe is the village site where Ron grew up. Here he guided us along paths, past the remnants of village buildings and into the forest. My sister stepped in fresh bear poo! Ron explained his past childhood in the village and how the site is being considered for transformation into a healing centre. From a look out point, our naturalist guide, Cassie, presented us with an honour song in tribute to murdered and missing indigenous girls and women. Set against the spectacular beauty of the ocean, mountains, and forests it was poignant.
On the return Cassie informed us about the fish and sea gulls of the area, and some of us saw an eagle's nest. (I missed it---too busy taking photos.)
For practicalities, coffee, tea, or hot chocolate are offered, along with binoculars. Clothing suggestions are dependent on the season, although a sunhat and a toque, a rain slicker, a jacket, and hiking shoes are advisable, given that there is an open-air section of the boat. There is a heated indoor section, too, provided with a washroom. A landing ramp is at the front, but we didn't use it to go ashore.

Amazing Educational Experience to Start the Learning Process for a New School Year! - Our school staff went on this tour as the start of our school year professional development. We booked two 12 person tours (morning and afternoon) and everyone loved their time. Our tour guide and boat pilot (Cassie and Ron) were friendly, knowledgeable and very accommodating. As educators, we are always looking for ways we can gain a better cultural understanding of some of the families we work with. This tour provided that for us and we hope that we can take what we have experienced and provide that back to children to help them grow up with a stronger sense of culture and purpose. Would recommend it to anyone wanting to experience the history of the Homalco people. Spotting all the wildlife of whales, eagles, sea lions, seals and the occasional porpoise was an absolute bonus. This truly is a beautiful area that can hold a candle to any other destination on this planet.

A Beautiful at Church House - Almost as if it was showing us the way, our trip began following an eagle through Seymour Narrows. We got to Church House, a gathered on the beach where Janet told us some of the history of the Homalco people. She is extremely knowledgeable identifying plants and trees, their medicinal properties and practical uses. She told stories, drummed and sang while we wove cedar bracelets at a beautiful look-out spot. On the way back, Kelsie not only found us a humpback whale to view, but also a pod of orcas which satisfied the guests on the boat.
What a great day it was.
I highly recommend it, and definitely plan to go again in the future.
