Koh Ker Temple - Koh Ker, one of the earliest cities of the Khmer Empire, offers a sense of adventure akin to that of a modern-day explorer. Constructed between 928 AD and 944 AD, it was once home to over 10,000 inhabitants. The 7-tiered Prang pyramid, nestled within the jungle, stands approximately 36 meters tall. The ruins, adorned with moss, reveal the locations where prayer palaces were erected for the kings. From the highest point, the surrounding view is dominated by forest.
With minimal tourist traffic, Koh Ker allows for a leisurely exploration of its weathered and crumbling ruins. A notable feature is Prasat Bram, or the Five Temples, where two of the brick towers are completely enveloped by strangler figs. At the main Koh Ker area car park, visitors will find small food and drink stalls, though there are no restroom facilities available.
Beng Mealea - Beng Mealea is among the most ruined temples in Siem Reap, constructed by the esteemed King Suryavarman II in the early 12th century. Its popularity continues to grow due to the lush vegetation enveloping the temple.
