Embark on our Land Rover adventure to explore the breathtaking Southeast Coast, visit the renowned wicker town, and venture into secluded areas like Morena. This journey includes an easy and gentle self-guided Levada Walk, concluding in Machico, the first landing site of the Portuguese.

The journey starts with a challenging ascent to the Largo do Miranda viewpoint, offering a stunning view of the entire city of Funchal during a brief pause. The adventure proceeds along a road bordered by an exotic forest, dominated by acacias and eucalyptus trees. At a certain stage of the journey, a short walk of approximately 2 km is recommended along an irrigation canal: the levada of Serra do Faial. Constructed in the early 20th century, this levada served as the primary water supply route for the island’s southeast coast for much of that century and is now one of the most accessible levadas. The adventure continues in a Land Rover along a winding road that traverses the rural landscape between the villages of Camacha and Santo da Serra. At some point, the vehicle’s mechanical capabilities, along with the guide’s expertise and experience, will be challenged. On the return journey, the route passes through Machico, the site where the Portuguese first arrived around 600 years ago.
