As it nears the Bow River, the creek flows through a vast canyon carved by erosion over millennia. The creek has sculpted the limestone rock into steep canyon walls, waterfalls, tunnels, and pools.
- Castle Mountain - Castle Mountain is situated within Banff National Park in the Canadian Rockies, roughly midway between Banff and Lake Louise. Named in 1858 by James Hector for its castle-like appearance.
- Lake Louise - Lake Louise is a glacial lake located in Banff National Park, Alberta, Canada. It is named after Princess Louise Caroline Alberta, the fourth daughter of Queen Victoria and wife of the Marquess of Lorne, the Governor General of Canada from 1878 to 1883. The lake’s turquoise hue is due to rock flour carried into the lake by meltwater from the glaciers above. The lake covers an area of 0.8 km² and drains through the 3 km long Louise Creek into the Bow River.
- Moraine Lake - (Open from June 1 to Oct 14 only) The waters of Moraine Lake appear as if they have been poured directly from the heavens into the Valley of the Ten Peaks. The towering mountains encircle the deep blue lake in a formation so remarkable, only Mother Nature could create it. Boulders, seemingly placed by giants, form miniature mountains near the lakeshore. Explore the trails that weave among the rocks and extend to alpine meadows and sparkling lakes.
- Lake Louise Visitor Information Centre - The village of Lake Louise is the highest mini town with an elevation of 1,661 m. Enjoy some free time here to have lunch, explore the shops, and visit the center around the mini square. Recharge for the rest of the tour.
- Spiral Tunnels - A devastating avalanche in 1899 destroyed the station at Rogers Pass. Gradually, the less ambitious proposals were dismissed, and CP Rail’s chief engineer approved a more ambitious project to resolve the issue permanently.
- Natural Bridge - Natural Bridge is a stunning natural rock formation that spans the Kicking Horse River west of Field, where the slower-moving waters from the Field valley flats begin their descent through a canyon to join the Amiskwi River.
Shaped by the erosive power of rushing water over what was once a waterfall, the Natural Bridge is a powerful reminder of water’s influence in shaping the landscape. Softer rock beneath the Natural Bridge’s hard limestone band eroded more quickly, widening fissures in the rock until the water flow was diverted below the outcrop.
- Emerald Lake - Emerald Lake is a freshwater lake in Yoho National Park, British Columbia, Canada. It is surrounded by the mountains of the President Range.
The vivid green color of Emerald Lake’s water is due to powdered rock from the glaciers, reflecting the blue-green spectrum of sunlight. The rock type and its quantity in the water cause the color to vary from lake to lake and month to month. Take a short walk around the lake to experience the serene beauty of the color-enriched lake that will remain unforgettable.
- Hoodoos Trail - A “hoodoo” is a North American term for a unique rock formation. Soft rock is covered by harder earth that resists erosion from the weather. This protective layer is crucial for forming what is known as hoodoos. With the Bow River in the background and towering mountains surrounding you, it offers a majestic viewpoint with stunning views of these natural peaks.
- Surprise Corner - Known for its breathtaking, unexpected views when seen from Buffalo Street, Surprise Corner is an excellent spot for photos and connecting to the local trail system.
