A big improvement & more to come - Coming back to Cairo to see the soft opening of this new museum was great to see. A beautiful building with each exhibit given the space it needs and (obviously) great views of the pyramids. The onsite food was surprisingly good quality and reasonably priced too.

Egypt's new gem, the GEM - The GEM is an absolute gem! Not only was this building geniusly designed, but each artefact was also so well placed. It was my guide's very first time in the museum since we visited on the day the general public was allowed to enter. Her reaction to displays was a highlight. The joy in her face! It's a stunning museum, one that I hope to visit again.

The Grand Egyptian Museum - Today was our last day in Giza and we did not want to be outside. We chose the half-day tour of the Grand Egyptian Museum and we were in for a great experience. This museum is magnificent!!! Ahmed Saber and his driver promptly picked us up from our hotel at noon. During our short drive to the Grand Egyptian Museum, Ahmed Saber informed us that he was a former teacher of Egyptian History. Oh boy, we were in for a treat!!! Our tour lasted 3 hours and we received a crash course of over five thousand years of Egypt's history. My wife and I were both very happy that we took this tour and we highly recommend working with Ahmed Saber.

Maravilloso - My visit to the Grand Egyptian Museum was absolutely fascinating. It is an impressive place, with an immense collection that traces thousands of years of history. Each room reveals wonders: colossal statues, jewels, mummies and the legendary treasure of Tutankhamun. A unique cultural gem in the world!

Can't miss. Truly incredible. - Came here after visiting the pyramids. Had a guide, Nehal N. from GoWithGuide. She was absolutely wonderful. The GEM is stunning. Really overwhelming. The way it was lit, the way artifacts were displayed, how they were organized, the flow from area to area, truly was amazing. It gave a modern honor to our most ancient civilizations reminders. We spent 3 hours here. I'm coming back in November to spend a full day. Ieed more time to take it all in.

Experience to be done calmly - Modern and futuristic building. A huge exhibition of artifacts and objects still not fully completed and not inaugurated. To observe and admire calmly and some pause otherwise it becomes exhausting. Some places are too cold. It is possible to take pictures. However, I prefer museums in historic buildings in the city center, but here needed a lot of space that the old Egyptian museum was not available. On the pyramids of Giza there are only stained glass windows there is no direct exit to the pyramids.

The 1st place you should visit - It's worth visiting Cairo just for that. With 1.2 billion, the Egyptians made something unique. In July we were told that all departments would be operational. They had not yet given access to the public in the Tutankhamun section, the ships, the armor and the mummies

“Gonna be great!” - During our visit the ‘GEM’ was almost ready to fully open, but wasn’t quite there, hence the 4-star review. I have little (if any) doubt that this will become Egypt’s - as well as the greater region’s, if not the world’s - next great museum Great architecture, magnificent views, good food options, and overall just a finely planned museum. Go see it - it’s gonna be great!!

Beautiful museum - The bad thing is that in Egypt everything gets always overshadowed with people harassing you. The Grand Egyptian museum is extremely well done. We did teh tour, but to be honest, looking how fast it goes and how little extra information you get, I believe it would be better to just walk around yourself. Within the same building as the museum you can find restaurants and a starbucks. The idea is that in the future you will have direct access to the pyramids from the museum, which I hope would get rid of all the scammers. What made this great experience bad, once again, is the fact that as soon as you get out and call for an Uber, every single taxi driver is harassing you to go with them, continously and not in a nice way. Our uber took some time to arrive because various drivers wanted to pick us up outside of the uber app, asking to cancel and then for them to come and pick us up and for us to pay in cash. So had to cancel then and then get another one, while taxi drivers continues to harass us...Welcome to Cairo.
