Wonderful experience - Absolutely fantastic experience. Really well organised. Felt totally safe in the water as lots of lifeguards. Recommend Vance's guided tour as he's very knowledgeable. Lunch was good. Plenty of crew around to answer any queries in a friendly manner

A great trip even with 4hrs travel time on the boat - Travel time on the boat is 4 hours (2 hours each way). We probably would have liked to take a pack of cards or something to occupy us for some of the journey, whilst we watched the world go by for the other part. The crew cannot do enough to help. The lunch was plentiful and water is available on tap. The glass bottom boat and sub boat are excellent for viewing the coral on the Great Barrier Reef if you want to keep dry. The staff are extremely knowledgeable about the coral and marine life and very willing to answer questions. We thoroughly enjoyed the trip and would recommend

Sunscreen & cool fish - Wear your sunscreen!! This is a great trip to see lots of aquatic life along the reef. It’s about two hours from cairns to Moore reef and there is lots to see our on the reef and on the submerged viewing point on the boat was a highlight. We did the glass bottom boat tour as well and got to see even more up close with extra information. The water isn’t too cool so it’s not overly refreshing but less hot than outside can be.

Snorkel - The average rating has nothing to do with either the Barrier Reef (spectacular) or the staff (very helpful, courteous). More to do with the boat and the organizing of 'things'. There was a definite overlap between the feeding of the guests and the snorkeling. Quite confusing, frankly the folks who chose to snorkel first were left with little to eat afterwards. Also felt like the boat was old e.g. paint missing, carpets worn, etc. I would recommend this experience but probably on a newer boat.

Overcrowded and Disorganized, a Sub-Par Experience - This boat had hundreds of people, overcrowded, disorganized, and it was a chaotic nightmare. It is a classic case of over, irresponsible tourism to maximize the Company’s profits. Upon arriving at Great Barrier Reef, hundreds of people scramble to grab sting suits, people bumping, shoulder to shoulder, a mad dash. Once you get your suit, if you decide to make a quick trip to the washroom or whatever, somebody else will grab, or steal, your suit. There is no organization, no group 1, then group 2’s turn. Instead, it is just a mass scramble like playing musical chairs. There has to be a better way to organize hundreds to get suits for snorkeling. The food was mediocre at best and no drinks included. Come on, for the price, not even a soft drink? Our travel group of 14 had reserved seating. However, due to the large crowds, others did not respect this and barged their way in. The crew seemed disinterested in enforcing this. The snorkeling was nice and a great experience. It is too bad the boat experience was sub par due to the overcrowding on this boat. Do yourselves a favor. Research and seek out a more responsible tour boat operator that takes less than hundreds of people and provides a more personal and coordinated experience to experience this great area.

Excursion from hell - The whole trip should’ve been canceled. The weather was awful. It was torrential rain. The ship was very rocky. Probably 3/4 of the ship was throwing up with puke bags. It was disgusting not impressed at all.

A not so great getaway - Sun lover was very quick to take our money and tell me that they only 18 spots available for a transfer to Fitzroy Island. 48 hours later I receive a text message telling me the return travel was cancelled. After ringing to find out what was the situation I was told that there was only a handful of guests returning on the Sunday so they cancelled the ferry. I was given another number and told to ring this company and try to book transfers. The person then said do you still want to go out and find another provider to bring you back. I then had to outlay a further $190 to secure transfers and after ringing Sunlovers back I was told the $200 would be refunded in 7-10 days. Totally unacceptable. We are local and feel for tourists. Most expensive transfer on a ferry I have ever experienced.
