Highlights

Grab your passport, and meet your local guide upon pickup from your San Ignacio hotel in the morning. Your tour begins with an approximate 1.5-hour drive to Tikal National Park, located in Guatemala. Aboard your comfortable coach you’ll cross over the border hassle-free.

The ruins of more than 3,000 palaces, temples, ceremonial platforms, ball courts, and plazas dot this UNESCO World Heritage Site that once served as a religious, social, and political hub for the Mayan people. Throughout your visit, your guide shares historical background on the ancient kingdom. Head to Complex Q and R, where you’ll see twin pyramids with altars set in front of the temples.

Visit the Central Acropolis, a maze of courtyards and smaller temples. Gaze in awe at the Great Plaza, and see the Temple of the Grand Jaguar, which was built to honor and bury King Moon Double Comb. Here, three rooms are located inside the 144-foot (44-meter) temple. Take in the sight of Temple IV (the Double Head Serpent), Tikal’s tallest structure at 212 feet (64 meters) high. The intriguing Temple II, commonly known as the Temple of the Masks, also sits in this part of the park near the Great Plaza.

Enjoy a delicious lunch in Tikal National Park before you explore the ruins on your own. Afterward, your guide transports you back to Belize with drop-off at your hotel in San Ignacio.

Incredible - Wonderful! If you want to see the Tikal ruins, go through this tour! Our driver in Belize was so kind and funny and told us so much about everything we passed on the way. They made crossing the boarder into Guatemala so easy. Our tour guide, Luis, was fantastic. SO knowledgeable and avoided the crowds. As for the tour itself, expect a lot of walking. We walked about 13,000 steps. It is hot, even though there will be shade for some of it. Bring a lot of water. Our tour bus in Belize has water, but bring extra yourselves. Also I suggest bringing a personal fan or something. The lunch was so good. Highly recommend the mixed fajitas. Also highlight: the cold towel after the tour!

Great day @ Tikal! - Visiting Tikal was a great experience! It was a well organized day by the tour company. Luis was our guide and he was very knowledgeable. His timing throughout the day was spot on. It was interesting learning from him and you can tell he cares about his country. We also had another Luis as our driver. He was very nice and safe. Lunch was great and the border crossing was simple. So happy I took this tour.

Guatemalan Vacation - We were on a family vacation with my son for his 18 th birthday. He was Adopted From Guatemala and we wanted to take him to see the ruins since he is Mayan. The first and the park was amazing. There are wooden steps on the back of several ruins that allow you to climb up them . There are bathrooms with water and other drinks throughout the park! It was nearly 120 degrees when we went last week June 6 th 2024. Must see but better we are told to go in November .

A must to do when in San Ignacio - Everything was timely and well organized. We were picked from Ko-Ox Han Nah with a short drive to the Guatemalan border. We switched to a different van after crossing the boarder. Make sure you have $20 per person for departure fee. Crossing the border was a breeze since it was only 6 people in our group but can be a lengthy wait if there are a lot of tours at the same time. The drive from there on was comfortable to Tikal (1 1/2 +hrs). We got lucky with over cast skys and the whole tour was fascinating and informative. Our guide was knowledgeable and answered all queries and questions. The lunch (included) was delicious. I highly recommend this tour!

Highly recommend this tour of Tikal - Tikal was an amazing Mayan site. It was a long drive from San Ignacio, but well worth it. The Belize driver got us through the Guatemalan border with ease and our Guatemalan driver was there to pick us up. At Tikal, the guide, Louis, was very informative and answered all our questions. Tikal is a large site, so expect to be tired from all the walking and going up the temples. After the tour of the site, we had a very good Mexican meal and then went back through customs to get back to Belize. My wife and I were very impressed with the tour. Would highly recommend.

Stunning place, disappointing guide - To start with the good, the company was organized getting across the border, the transportation and lunch provided were good, and Tikal is stunning. Our experience with Luis as a tour guide l, however, really put a negative spin on the day and our experience at Tikal. We were two young women traveling together which may have impacted his approach, but he did not communicate with us well, if ay all, frequently just walking away and expecting us to follow. He treated us like we were incapable of physical activity and intelligent thought. The misogynistic attitude was a bit frustrating, but the worst part was that he could not give us any information about Tikal. We wanted to know how the buildings were used, the ruling hierarchy worked, water collection was used, the site was chosen, and why the civilization collapsed, etc. Instead of answering with concrete information, his answer for everything was about the energies of the universe and chakras. It was an incredibly disappointing tour.
