Amazing Food Tour in a non-touristy area of Cairo where you learn all the local dishes from breakfast to dessert. - If you are wanting a truly extraordinary and unforgettable experience- this is it! Magy is an absolute delight. We were brought to a neighborhood in Cairo completely off the tourist radar, where the real people of Cairo live and work. We were lucky enough to visit during the big preparations for the upcoming EID festivals . We sampled an unbelievable array of dishes- breakfast treats, snacks, bakery items, meats, Egyptian pizza (so delicious) sauces, dips, and unique refreshing drinks. We finished the evening with an array of yummy Egyptian pastries. My favorite, “spoiled” layers of crispy pastry, cream and caramel. Throughout the evening, Magy, brought us to one unique place after another explaining the history and significance of each dish. All of the local people were so lovely and welcoming. A remarkable evening which we will never forget P.s. wear stretch pants as you will be tasting a lot!

Unforgettable authentic evening in local Cairo - We had an amazing time on this experience! We visited local parts of the city and got to learn about the local food and culture with our knowledgeable guide, Sarah. She was very passionate about her job and answered all our questions in detail. The food we had was all very tasty and offered a huge variety. We were so full that we could barely eat anything at the last few stops, but we were satisfied just watching how the food was made. Thank you, Sarah, and TheamazingTourist, for an unforgettable evening!

Great food, great company! - Our guide Amal was awesome! She met us at our hotel and took us to several restaurants to introduce us to different Egyptian foods. At each stop, she explained what we were eating, how it was made, how it’s eaten, and the cultural significance of it. She ordered us so much food, we couldn’t eat it all! And still felt full hours later at dinner! She was not only knowledgeable, she was a fun lunch companion! I highly recommend this tour!

Without Magy’s knowledge, passion, and guidance, we would never have discovered the hidden culinary gems of Cairo! - We had a fantastic experience with Magy on our Cairo street food tour. Everything was perfectly on time, and from the very beginning, Magy made us feel comfortable and welcome. She took us to a part of the city rarely visited by tourists, which gave the tour a truly authentic and local feel. The itinerary was excellent, and the selection of food spots was clearly very thoughtfully curated. We began with a place serving traditional Egyptian breakfast, followed by a visit to a local bakery, vibrant street food stalls, a small restaurant serving hearty lunch dishes, a stop for refreshing local drinks, and finally – delicious Egyptian desserts. It was a unique experience that gave us real insight into Egyptian cuisine. Without Magy’s knowledge, passion, and guidance, we would never have discovered the hidden culinary gems of Cairo. Highly recommended!

Immersive experience - My partner and I booked the evening option of this tour because we wanted to explore local life in Egypt, not just try some food. The tour was exactly what we were looking for. We walked through the bustling streets of Cairo and our guide Sarah was very knowledgeable and engaging. We learned alot about Egyptian lifestyle and tasted tons of different dishes! It was a truly immersive and insightful experience that went beyond just a typical food tour. Highly recommended

A true experience! - I normally HATE tours. But I had 24 hours in Cairo for a layover and wanted to get a food tour and save the other touristic things for a longer visit. And I had a lovely time with Magy, and I think this is because this isn’t really a tour - this is what an Airbnb experience was intended to be at its core and birth! If you’re a frequent and non-basic traveler and you’re hesitating, do it. Magy was super communicative from the start - the group met up downtown but took a car to northern Giza where Magy grew up for the tour. She’ll take you on a food tour with tons of local knowledge and information sprinkled throughout. The other reviews said to come hungry and this is 100% required - I had just one other guest on the tour and I came very hungry, but I left with tons of leftovers and so much food in my stomach I nearly puked. She starts with breakfast foods then lunch and dinner with tons of street food in the middle, and ends it with dessert and drinks. If there are particular dishes you wanted to try, you can point them out and she’ll tell you about it or take you to get it! we got a bit too excited at breakfast and ordered a few items, had a street food meat sando, then a selection of bakery goods, feteer, liver (we skipped the brain), a ton of things at lunch, koshary, street cart desserts, took a tuktuk, corn, more Egyptian snacks from carts, juices, coffee, kenefe and other desserts, corn, another meat sando, and Egyptian pizza. Wow. The other person and I were asking for smaller portions from the second location we went to and we pulled up the white flag midway through. Egyptian food prices are quite cheap so you might be thinking the price of the tour is on the higher end, but it is worth it! The spots are restaurants that Magy have vetted and/or will find at your request, and ensures you get a comprehensive (as much as one can be in 3 hours) overview of top Egyptian cuisines!

Tasty, local food experiencing - Meggi was a very attentive and informative guide. Meggi’s instructions for the meeting point were very clear and easy to understand. We started on time after gathering all the food tour members. Meggi provided helpful advice on local places to go on our way to the food tour location. The location was very good as it was mostly local Egyptians rather than expensive places that cater to tourists. The food itself was very good and was very vegetarian-friendly. We had typical Egyptian foods like foul as well as less common foods. Make sure to pace yourself over the course of the food tour and avoiding eating a few hours before to ensure you’re hungry enough. I would highly recommend this tour as it is well worth the money! Thank you Meggi!

Most authentic experience in Cairo - Between temples and pyramids, the food tour with Mila was a refreshing change! For those who want to break out of the tourist bubble and experience modern Egypt authentically in addition to the typical program of pyramids and temples, Mila is the perfect choice. We have already done food tours in several countries, but this one was particularly impressive – both because of the variety of culinary experiences and because of Mila’s straightforward and open manner. Feels like there is something exciting to try on every corner: Biscuits, Baklava, Koshary, “Egyptian pizza”, fresh fruit from the market, a traditional breakfast, a hearty dinner and much more. For the brave among us, even a visit to the “organ restaurant”. As a vegetarian, I could eat at almost any station without any problems, which surprised me positively. The organization ran smoothly through WhatsApp, and everything was on time and exactly as discussed. I highly recommend the tour to anyone who wants to get to know the real Egypt – not just the one from 5000 years ago!
