Arrival and the Tigre Tour

Buenos Aires welcomed me with open arms, and I was ready to dive into its vibrant urban landscape. After a slight hiccup with our flight to Iguazu Falls, Luciano, the owner of Cultura Cerana, personally picked us up at the airport. Alongside his associates, Andres and Mirta, they whisked us away on a Tigre Tour that was nothing short of magical.

We drove past the bustling tourist areas to a private marina where Andres had his boat waiting. As we glided through the canals, the scenery unfolded like a living painting. Homes, churches, schools, and even a floating grocery store lined the waterways, each with its own story to tell. We docked at Andres’ home, where a spread of appetizers and drinks awaited us. The hospitality was genuine, and the food was divine.

As night fell, the stars emerged, painting the sky with constellations like the Southern Cross and Orion. That evening, the city transformed as we embarked on a deluxe Tango tour with Andres and Mirta. They introduced us to the world of tango, teaching us the basic steps and explaining the difference between “Show Tango” and the authentic dance.

We then ventured into a local neighborhood to join a Milonga, a dance club where hundreds of dancers moved to the rhythm of tango music. It was an electrifying experience, one that immersed us in the real culture of Buenos Aires, far from the tourist shows.

The following day, we took a ferry across the River Plate to Colonia in Uruguay, reconnecting with Bruno, another fantastic guide. We explored the historic town, visited a family winery, and even learned about a quirky world record held by a local farmer.

As our time in Buenos Aires came to an end, I felt a sense of fulfillment. The city had opened its heart to me, revealing its secrets and stories. From the vibrant neighborhoods to the hidden gems, Buenos Aires was a city that pulsed with life, and I was grateful to have experienced it in such an intimate way.
