A unique experience in Budapest - Visiting the Cat Museum in Budapest was the most unique part of my trip! It’s a quirky and charming museum that celebrates the history of cats in art and culture. You can definitely tell the passion behind the collection. A must-see for cat lovers! Oh, and the cats themselves are also fantastic!

Highly recommended for true cat lovers! - I absolutely loved my visit! I’m honestly baffled by some of the negative reviews here. The exhibition was beautiful and the cats were a delight—most of them were visible and active during my time there. I even got to play with Simba, who was especially charming! What really stood out to me was the patience of the staff. I noticed that some visitors needed frequent reminders about the rules (which are clearly in place for the cats' wellbeing). It can’t be easy managing so many different people. The complimentary drink was a lovely touch—it’s clearly mentioned on signs throughout the museum, so I don’t understand how people could miss it. On top of that, we were even given treats to feed the cats, which they absolutely loved! All the cats gathered around excitedly, and it was such a joy to see them so engaged and happy. All in all, it was a fantastic experience, and I’d happily return. Highly recommended for true cat lovers!

Successful - Lovingly designed museum. The cats living there have enough retreats. They don't seem stressed despite the visitors. Very friendly staff. Delicious coffee:) For animal lovers a recommended break from the city hustle and bustle or if you miss your own four-legged friends.

Museum Is A Big Word - Make sure you reserve your time and buy your ticket online. I love that the wellbeing of the cats are very important to them, by limiting the amount of people allowed by each block of 1.5 hr. My recommendation would be to bring your own slippers, not sure how often the communal ones are desinfected, or if they do at all. It is a bit counterproductive that we have to use slippers to walk around to ensure the health of the cats while the restroom / toilet was not clean. In my opinion, calling it "museum" might be a little too much, it is more like a petting zoo / cats cafe, decorated with cats decor. The place is smaller than I expected, it felt crowded. The 2nd floor felt like DIY, some improvised structure that wiggles when people walk around. The whole time I was there, I felt like it might collapse at any moment. In general, I had a good time. The cats are calm and cute, staff are very polite, gift shop has a nice variety of items. A bit disappointed to find out the earring I got there were from Shein, they put a lot of stickers on the brand to cover it up. I would not have buy them if I knew.

Shortest museum visit ever. - Greeted by a locked door and being told they are at full capacity before even asking if we had a reservation. Long story short, a five minute museum visit with about four/five cats and half cups of hot chocolate. Bitterly disappointing experience.

Worst “museum” - It’s not a museum. There are 9 cats, very depressed. Not recommending it. You need 10mim for the whole place. It’s a waste of money

Hilarious/ unhinged - This is so bad that it's almost hilarious, maybe the most unhinged place I've ever been. My mum wanted to go to the cat museum so along we go. No free drink offered as advertised, and none of the patrons that were there at the same time as us had a hot drink either, or souvenir for completing the quiz. You have to take your shoes off, which is fine, but they give you really scabby old slippers to wear that are different sizes and actually a bit of a trip hazard. The cats are so sweet, but some of them did seem unreasonably sedated, interesting to come away and read other reviews that suggest they also were concerned the cats have been sedated. Overall it's not a relaxing atmosphere, and infact a complete rip off, but we did spend the rest of the evening laughing about it so I guess you win some, you lose some.
