Your Ozark native guide with take you through Old Matt’s Cabin where three of the leading characters in the novel, The Shepherd of the Hills actually lived. This log cabin sits just as it did 130 years ago and is on the National Register of Historic Places. You will visit Morgan Church during your stop at Inspiration Point which is the highest point in Southwest Missouri where Harold Bell Wright camped while writing the book. The view is so spectacular that the name of this hill is Inspiration Point.

Awesome history lesson!!! - “Shepherd of the Hills” Historic Tour was so fun and informative! Mr. John and Mr. Shannon were awesome hosts with Mr. John, a distant relative, being especially knowledgeable about the farms history. His family has worked at the attraction for 3 generations. They also sang a few songs at the end, so fun! We didn't purchase an entire package but the Historic Tour was available on it's own. Definitely some history that's worth learning about when in Branson. Highly recommended!!!

This is a must, especially if you like the history of places you’re seeing! Well worth the money! - I booked my husband’s & my tour for the first one @ 10 am. We were the only two for this first tour! Cowboy John was an excellent tour guide and a wealth of information. The next time we come to Branson we will for sure do the BBQ dinner and show. This is also family friendly for young kids, they have small petting zoo, a slide, it looked like a lot of different things. We ended up buying the book and getting it signed by John!

Great experience - It was awesome! We love seeing all the old buildings and hearing the tale of Matt and Molly. Our guide John was absolutely the best. I learned so much about The Shepherd of the hills that I didn't know.

What a wonderful tour and guide! - John was an incredible guide and very, very knowledgeable not only because his family has been involved in Shepherd of the Hills for so long, but because he has done a lot of research on his own as well. His knowledge of the book and the history of the area really helped you get a feel for what it must have been like for Harold Bell Wright at the time he wrote the story. The views from the spot where Mr. Wright camped and penned his story were spectacular! We could see 65 miles and into Arkansas from there and it was beautiful! We had never been to Shepherd of the Hills before on our many trips to the Ozarks before and I would highly recommend this tour to everyone who visits this neck of the woods!

A fun historical ride through history! - Our tour guide, John Fullerton, was the most knowledgeable and fun guide ever! Partly due to generations of his family being involved with the property and his love for it! He also sings with 'Sons of the Pioneers'. WOW! It was a fun ride through history!
