This log cabin sits just as it did 130 years ago and is on the National Register of Historic Places. You will visit Morgan Church during your stop at Inspiration Point which is the highest point in Southwest Missouri where Harold Bell Wright camped while writing the book. The view is so spectacular that the name of this hill is Inspiration Point.
The Shepherd of the Hills was the beginning of the Branson phenomena. People began pouring into this area to meet the characters and see the beautiful landscape Wright has so vividly described- And now you have an opportunity to visit the homestead where the book was actually written!

A Must See When Visiting Branson!!! - We ended up getting a private tour with Cowboy Jim because we visited early in the season! This was on our first day in Branson and felt it really laid the foundation for the rest of the trip with the historical information he provided. He was so knowledgeable and had so many stories and family connections that his roots and the roots of the people depicted in the story that was written here were very evident. It made for a meaningful start to the trip! We returned that night for Shepherd of the Hills outdoor play and that put everything together. I'd say this is a must do when visiting Branson. As Cowboy Jim said, the book was what led to Branson becoming a tourist attraction. I had no idea. Thank you Cowboy Jim!

Fantastic tour! - We went on this tour after we had all read the Shepherd of the Hill book. Our tour guide was Catfish and he did a fantastic job! He was very informative and funny as well! We also loved walking on the swinging bridge between the trees even though we are 3 senior citizens! We highly recommend this tour because it is such a good representation of life in the early Ozarks. There were also a lot of other fun activities including an alpine coaster, an inspiration tower, petting zoo, and a play area for kids that we didn’t have time to do. We want to go back and see the Shepherd of the Hill play when it starts for the season!

One of best historical tours ever! - Cowboy John was awesome, informative, entertaining, and sincere. The tour, while short, was long on history and sights.

Simply wonderful tour of this Historic area!! - We absolutely loved this tour and our tour guide John was outstanding....so friendly, knowledgeable and accommodating. We had no idea what to expect, but John gave us such a historical journey through time of the founders of this area and the author of the book Shepherd of the Hills....he was wonderful!! We all bought the book but I think he gave us the best "cliff notes" version possible. All 4 of us would recommend, if you are in the Branson, MO area, to take this tour....you will really enjoy it! Thanks, John; you did a fabulous tour!

Worth the price! - Great guide (Cowboy John) and interesting history of that particular site. We particularly enjoyed hearing about the early history and first owners. Less interested in the workings of the current theater production.

Mixed Feelings - We enjoyed being outdoors and hearing the stories of how Branson was started! We felt like it was almost a commercial for its evening dinner and show. We also assumed that we would be going up in the tower since the description said we were going to see it. The best part of the tour was going on the suspension bridge which was optional. We could have walked to the cabins without a tour wagon. Other than that we enjoyed it!
