1.5 hour Hoover dam postcard raft tour. - Start to finish, this was a fun time! The 1.5 hour tour is the perfect amount of time to spend on the river, especially in the hotter summer months. Our raft guide Sara was great, fun, and informative . The 15 minute beach break was perfect for a refreshing dip in the chilly Colorado river

Beautiful Rafting Adventure With So Much History - There are many ways to see the Hoover Dam. And there are many water activities to choose from on Lake Meade and the Colorado River. After experiencing many of them in the past, I think we’ve found the most enjoyable and rewarding option of them all with the Hoover Dam Rafting Adventure Postcard Tour!
This 90 minute ride through the Black Canyon on the Colorado River far exceeds expectations.
It begins when you board the bus that takes you to the base of the Dam via a backroad that virtually no one ever gets to travel on. Victor, our excellent driver and tour guide explained to us about how he requires a special high-level clearance pass from Homeland Security to drive past the gate and down the original roadway to the Hoover Dam. Victor shared much in the way of history about the construction of the Dam along the way.
At the base of the Dam, we met Sarah, our outstanding and enthusiastic tour guide and raft driver. Our group of 12 boarded a large, motorized pontoon raft and began our floating journey.
I’ve previously seen the Dam from the O’Callahan-Tillman Bridge (from above), by crossing the top of the Dam itself, and by riverboat that takes you to the back of the Dam. The perspective from the raft is completely unique. You are on the water, right at the base of the Dam, looking straight up at this architectural marvel. You also get to see the entrance to the tunnels on either side of the Dam. Fascinating!
The raft ride lasted 80 minutes and took us along the Colorado River. Sarah, our guide pointed out many site of interest including the remaining components of original bridge crossings and lots of wildlife including sheep, scorpions and many different birds.
The tour provides a bag of snacks and plenty of cold water for a warm day. Also wet towels to keep cool in the sunshine.
My family and I found this to be relaxing, educational and picturesque. One of those unique experiences on a Vegas vacation that far exceeds expectations. Highly recommended!

Best money spent on Vegas trip! - This excursion was amazing! Our guide Sarah was phenomenal. To experience the dam in all its glory from the bottom was breathtaking. Our swim break in the Colorado River was exhilarating. Ten out of ten would definitely do again.

We had an amazing time!... - We had an amazing time! Sarah was a wonderful tour guide. There is no shade on the boat (hot in June!) but ice water and cold towels for your neck were provided and kept everyone comfortable. There’s an opportunity to wade in the river so wear clothes that can get wet! Highly recommend!!

A different type of Vegas experience - I have been on 5 tours through Hoover Dam and walked all over it. We have taken 2 dinner cruises on Lake Mead to see the lake side as close as possible. Please don’t miss out on seeing it from the Colorado River immediately downstream., as close as a non government employee can get. Even with temps around 108 degrees F cold wet towels repeatedly cooled from 64 degree river water made this trip manageable. Kyle was a very good guide with personal experiences in the area. The water was a beautiful green, clear color that really made the trip. Timing just right (1 1/2) hours. Great trip far all ages which I will highly recommend to all my friends. Great break from the HOT Vegas strip for several hours sunscreen and hat recommended. Great Pics for memories of family vacation in Vegas

Great Time in the Colorado River - Truly an amazing trip. First we got to spend time with Victor, our bus driver. He was so very kind and gave us a great history of the dam and the surrounding area. Then we got to spend the next hour and half with Sarah, who was VERY concerned about us staying hydrated and cool, on the very hot day and then shared to ton of info about the dam and the Colorado River. Sarah was lovely and we'd do another tour with her again and again. Fingers crossed the Rain Cave will be known as Sarah's Cave!

Best way to see and learn about the construction of the dam! Such a different experience from down on the water! - I’m so happy we did this tour of the Hoover Dam from the river. Our tour operators were awesome from start to finish. Pick up/meeting instructions were clear. Only thing I will mention to other families planning, plan on extra time to meet early and get back to drop off plus the length of the tour (not just 1.5 hours total). We were blessed with a beautiful partly cloudy and windy day that took the edge off the heat. I can’t imagine how hot it can get down there so be prepared. There is a spot to cool off but that water is chilly.
Our guide was full of wonderful information, friendly and funny. We learned so much about the area, the dam construction and nature. Absolutely loved it and we were all happy we did it!

The experience was lovely, the guide, not so much - I'll start with the good.... the experience was lovely. I've now seen the Dam from the top and now river view. It was hot, but not unbearable thanks to the cool towels for our necks and the cold water provided. They also provided us a little back pack full of snacks that was a very nice treat. The downside was our guide Russ. He started the tour with a flippant attitude. He acted like he was going to throw a bucket of water in my friend and she asked him not to. His response was "oh someone in a raft ride that doesn't want to get wet, I'll still have fun anyway. " I found that remark totally uncalled for. Then my other friend brought an umbrella with her to protect her skin from direct sunlight due to her medical reasons. Russ told her she couldn't use the umbrella due safety reasons. She immediately put it down but Russ continued to lecture her about the safety risk of umbrellas on a raft. She told him she already put it down and his response was "I can turn the raft around and you can go back on the bus." I took that as a threat and again it was totally unnecessary. Russ also made another sarcastic remark about people not wanting to have fun but he's have fun anyway. We all were there to have fun and enjoy the experience, but we're immediately greeted with a less than tolerable guide Russ. The views were amazing and I would do this again but I'd NEVER take this tour again with Russ. His "humor" (what he called it) was off putting and could have ruined my experience had I allowed it to. But, I was committed to enjoying my day despite Russ. And if Russ sees this review, I'm the black lady with the afro that sat in the middle seats section. Kell and Ali were the ones you were rude to. Also, we paid to hear the history of the Dam and not his own personal life stores. Less is more where that is concerned.
