For one of the most historic cities in the US, we did not go to any of the locations where ghost stories could be told. We went to 4 bars directly next to one another, and listened (barely bc it was very hard to hear our guide) to the stories in alleys, while loud music and big crowds came by. Where there could have been suspense and storytelling, we were told facts and given disjointed background on people who had no tie to the place we were at. Guide often said none of the places he was showing us were haunted. He was a kind person, and we know he did his best. Ultimately, it did not feel like a ghost tour or even a bar crawl really as we didn't move or explore any parts of the city beyond the single street the four bars were on.
