If Boston is best seen from the water, then by far the best time to see it is during a sunset cruise on a classic Boston tall ship! We depart Fan Pier Marina and raise the sails, then it’s time to just chill out and relax. Get away from the hustle and bustle of the city streets and enjoy some quality time out on the water with unbeatable views of the skyline sparkling in the twilight.
Drinks are available onboard for purchase via cash, credit, or Apple Pay - our menu includes several beers brewed right here in Boston! We also have red and white wine, cocktails, soda, juice, and water available in addition to several snack options.
Snacks and bag lunches are welcome, but please no coolers or outside beverages.
There is no formal narration during our public sails, but feel free to ask the captain and crew and they’ll happily share their knowledge of local landmarks and history.
- SOME IMPORTANT DETAILS:
- We suggest that all passengers arrive 15-20 minutes before departure to allow yourself time to check in at the boat, which is located at Fan Pier Marina (10 Waterside Ave, Boston).
- Children must be accompanied by an adult.
- Please advise at time of booking if wheelchair assistance is required. Our crew is happy to help get you onboard! Due to the nature of the vessel, we are unable to accommodate motorized wheelchairs. Surfaces are uneven.
- Minimum drinking age is 21 years
- Operates in all weather conditions, please dress appropriately.
- PLEASE NOTE: In the rare situation where the seller is forced to cancel the event, ticket-holders will receive credit for a future sailing. The Company reserves the right to cancel any sail for inclement weather or other unforeseen circumstances. If the Company cancels your cruise, you may reschedule to another comparable sail or receive a Company credit, but no refund will be issued. Further, the Company may cancel any sail for a private charter in which case a full refund will be issued. The Company reserves the right to substitute vessels for any departure. For groups of 8 or more a 10% minimum gratuity will be added to your booking and you hereby authorize us to charge the gratuity to your credit card as an additional charge.

You can access the outer boarding dock via a gangway located just to the right of Reel House Oyster Bar’s outdoor seating area. Please arrive 15-20 minutes prior to your scheduled sail time as we depart the dock promptly.

A great tour on the Liberty Star - We had a great sunset tour on the Liberty Star. The captain was in great spirits, the crew attentive and warm, and the atmosphere on board was just wonderful. Experience Boston in the evening light from the water was a highlight – we would book this tour again anytime.

Magical sunset cruise - The sunset cruise is magical. The tall ship is a thing of beauty. The captain and crew were lovely people. We weren't regaled with endless facts and stories. It was just a lovely adventure around the harbor. And such amazing photo opportunities in good company.

The perfect way to spend an evening in Boston! - The sunset cruise was the perfect way to begin our trip to Boston. We loved meeting the crew of the boat and had the best experience on our trip. Cocktails were amazing and the views from the boat were breathtaking.

Fun day on the water - The sun wasn’t out for our sunset cruise, but we nevertheless had a great time. The tall ship is roomy and comfortable. Captain Fredo and the two other crew members made it look easy. There was plenty to see on the cruise — Harbor islands, nice views of the city skyline and there was an interesting looking regatta going on while we were out there. And the dock is located in a fun part of the city, giving you plenty to do before or after.

Boston Sunset Cruise - If you are looking for a relaxing activity in Boston at sunset I would consider going for a sail on a Tall Ship in Boston Harbor. The crew led by Fredo is welcoming and attentive during the cruise. To kick things off he looks for a few volunteers to help raise the sails and then you are off to explore the various sights in Boston Harbor! Cocktails are available to sip as you take in the sights. I have done other Boston Harbor cruises, but on this one I really enjoyed that they explored all around the Harbor which included going by Castle Island, the Nantucket Lightship, Old Iron Sides and then under the Tobin. You get to see such a different vantage point of Boston and the harbor. You also get to see other activities on and around the harbor which gives you ideas for future!

Best sailboat cruise - Unbelievable! Grew up sailing for 25 years and this was the best boat, Captain and crew ever. Relaxing, rustic, fun, perfect. Highly recommend going on this boat!
Captain Fredo was fabulous. Boat was so realistic with character and history. Could get involved with raising sails-the best.
Can’t wait to go again!

Happy we chose Tall Ships. - This is the one. If you want to be on the coolest boat out there with laid people serving reasonably priced drinks with a real smile! Small group size is nice too.

Don’t expect any refund - I was hoping this experience would be the highlight of our weekend trip to Boston. We planned a weekend break to celebrate our 40th wedding anniversary. Unfortunately-best laid plans were disrupted by a massive storm that closed Logan Airport on Saturday, September 6 and our flight from IAD to BOS was initially delayed 4 hours and then ultimately cancelled. As the storm was still affecting the NE coast most of the next day as well, we contacted this vendor to request a refund. They offered to reschedule in September only. We asked about extending that to next year as we couldn’t reschedule this month. No, but they then said friends or family could use our tickets this month. We don’t know anyone in Boston so that was a poor solution for us.
