Roberta with tortellini and tiramisu - Roberta was an amazing host. We were the only ones who booked that evening so it ended up being a private class which made the evening that much more special. When we arrived, she had chilled wine and some appetizers ready for us. We made tiramisu first and let that set in the fridge. Then the main course was tortellini which she helped us measure the ingredients and make the tough. What a workout! We chatted about our lives and family while waiting for the dough to rise. Then came making the tortellini, that was another adventure is patience but was fun to watch us get better and better. Finally, time to eat! It was delicious and an evening we will definitely remember.

Wonderful and amazing experience!! - Rossa was absolutely wonderful! As we strolled towards her apartment, the warmth of her hospitality greeted us right away when she waved from her window. Welcoming us into her home, she made us feel comfortable and at ease instantly. Together, we cooked, learned new things, shared stories, and felt her abundant love. She was exceptionally kind to our two children, making the experience even more memorable. For those seeking a genuine local experience, especially one that involves learning how to make pasta from scratch while thoroughly enjoying the process, I cannot recommend Rossa's hospitality enough. We truly adored her!

Better than any restaurant could make!! Amazing experience - I arrived at the home of Luciano and discovered I was the only participant which was amazing as I would effectively get a private class. I was even more thrilled that I could do the whole class in Italian with Luciana’s good friend Valerio able to help in English if I did not understand something. I felt very at home and relaxed and both Luciana and Valerio were very chatty and interesting. The class was simply amazing. I was nervous about handling the pasta and folding the tortellini but Luciana was patient and guided me and in no time I was making the beautiful little tortellini. It was also interesting to learn how to make traditional tiramisu. Along the way it was nice to sip some wine and enjoy the generous local produce snacks. Lunch was served in Luciana’s beautiful dining room. Luciana had spent hours the day before making the brodo with incredible ingredients. When I had my first spoon of brodo and tortellini I literally felt emotion rising up within myself - it was incredible and I have never tasted anything like it before. You will not get it this good in a restaurant. The dessert and conversation was fantastic. They were in no rush at all and we went well beyond the scheduled 1pm finish - I left at 2.40pm in a food haze and very happy. One of the best experiences of my 5 week trip to Italy - thank you Luciana and Valerio.

Fantastic time! - Rosa was such a gracious host! It was my husband and me and our 10 and 13 year old daughters. She engaged the entire family having us work on all different things and her kitten kept the kids busy during cook time. Would 100% recommend her and the experience of you are visiting Bologna!!!

Alessandra, Homemade Tortellini in Bologna - Alessandra welcomed both my mother and I into her home and afterwards we both agreed that we had a wonderful time that was well-worth the money. Firstly, Alessandra's English is impeccable and she has a genuine warmth about her that immediately dissolved any anxiety we had about being in someone else's home. Both my Mom and I felt that we truly had a genuine Italian culinary experience where we were able to make a dish that evoked many fond childhood memories for my Mom (her Bolognese grandmother used to feed her homemade tortellini with an almost identical filling), were able to try something new (make homemade tiramisu), and try not one, but two sparkling wines. Great food, great host, great company, great memories made, and for my Mom: the ability to connect emotionally with the spirit of her doting grandmother. If I could give Alessandra more than five stars, I definitely would.

Wonderful experience - The tortellini of this region is unlike anything I had ever tasted and I was dying to learn how to make it, in order to recreate the amazing experience at home. While many pasta classes are offered, I sought out tortellini specifically and ending up booking quite last minute - the afternoon before. I am so glad it did as it will give me the ability to recreate this trip for many, many years to come.
I had the fortune of having a class by myself. While for some, this may seem awkward, Cristina Rossi, my host and teacher, put me at ease immediately. I felt the warmth of being invited into someone's home and was offered snacks and drinks immediately. I made the mistake of having quite big, late lunch, so we jumped right into the cooking.
First we made tiramisu, which was far simpler than I could have imagined (but turned out better than any I've ever had). On to the tortellini! Tortellini is not a simple dish you make on a quick whim. It takes effort and planning and lead time. However, Cristina showed me it's nothing to be intimidated by! We went through each step and she was methodical at providing clear instruction, tips and an understanding of what to expect. She would demonstrate each part and then watch me as I repeated. She was quick to provide encouragement and was
a great teacher. Anyone can follow a recipe on paper, but Cristina gave me the tools to understand how to make tortellini with love!
We we continued to make tortellini, the conversation flowed across multiple topics. Cristina's husband Enrico joined us after work and helped us complete the tortellini. We ended with an amazing meal of the tortellini and tiramisu. Distracted by the conversation, I stayed longer than the allotted class time, but I left with a full heart and full belly.
Having been on a trip to Italy solo, it was wonderful to feel the warmth like old friends and it was a perfect way to end my trip. I am now obsessed with recreating the meal at home to cement everything I learned. I highly recommend this experience for anyone that wants to be able to have a piece of Italy at home!

The best lunch in Bologna - Paola is an awesome cesarina! I was very fortunate to have had a private lesson with a wonderful hostess. We started out by making the pasta and then we used a dough that had already been rested. She had made the filling but she shared the recipe with me so I know how to make it. The hard part was actually making the tortellinis, which is not as easy as it looks. However, Paola is a very patient teacher and she worked with me until I got it right. Once we had them all assembled, we had a glass of wine, an antipasto, and a wonderful conversation. Then she showed me how to cook the tortellinis and prepare a parmesan cream sauce to serve with them. They were delicious! I finished the meal with her homemade tiramisu, another recipe that I can't wait to try. I look forward to returning to Bologna for more cooking lessons!
