Highlights
  • Origen Bistro - To begin, you’ll meet with your guide at Origen Bistro Restaurant before moving on to “La Perseverancia” food market, a place created by the working-class people at the beginning of the XX century.
  • Plaza de Mercado La Perseverancia - There you’ll feel the typical atmosphere of a traditional Colombian food market as you talk to traditional cooks and locals, and try delicious fruits.
  • La Macarena - You’ll then walk all over La Macarena neighborhood, which was Bogotá’s bohemian area in the mid-XXth century. Nowadays, this area has been transformed into a recognizable zone of international restaurants and art galleries.
  • Florida, Bakery and Coffee shop - Afterward, you’ll walk along the 7th street to enjoy the “Septimazo”, a very diverse path where you’ll find street artists, singers, food karts and handicrafts, and will also identify some of the iconic buildings of the area.

You’ll stop at the traditional “La Florida Bakery”, to taste delicious pastries and a hot beverage like Aguapanela or hot santafereño chocolate with cheese.
Heading southeast, you’ll appreciate downtown’s transformation with the new cultural, commercial and residential students buildings in contrast to colonial and republican constructions, before tasting an artisanal ice-cream made out of Amazonic exotic fruits.

  • Barrio La Candelaria - Next, you’ll walk through La Candelaria historic district to enjoy a savory meal at a colonial restored house, where you can taste and see recipes from different regions of the country.

At last, you’ll visit an indigenous store, where you’ll have the chance to taste some coca leaf products and have a chat with an indigenous woman from the Embera’s group. She’ll explain to you why Coca is not Cocaine and why it is a fundamental part of indigenous nutrition and a sacred plant. You’ll also get to know more about how they’ve struggled to preserve indigenous culture, economy, and traditions as they’ve faced conflicts with narcos, industry and the government.

Do this tour early in your trip so you can revisit so many amazing spots! - This tour was more than just food- it was a deep dive into Colombian culture and history, in a fun and approachable way. Our guide, Raul, was so knowledgeable, funny, and interesting. He took us to spots we would not have tried on our own and showed us so many more spots to try during the rest of our trip. I loved the Colombian hot chocolate (with cheese and delicious bread!), the Perseverancia market, and traditional empanadas at a popular lunch spot. Raul made the experienced personalized to our needs and showed us a few more hidden gems that weren’t on the tour. I would take this tour ten times over!

Eating our way through Bogotá - Sandra was a wonderful tour guide. She ensured we tried all of the most typical dishes/snacks throughout our tour and was friendly and inviting. She was thorough and stayed with us beyond the scheduled time to make sure we were able to experience every bit of the tour (we had experience an unavoidable delay at one of our stops). We ate everything in sight! Thank you for the tour Sandra!

So Much More Than a Food Tour - Gabriela was our guide for this tour, and she was amazing! It is so much more than just La Perseverancia, which was what motivated us to sign up for this tour in the first place. We also got to try hot chocolate with cheese at Pasteleria Florida, jugo de cana from a street vendor, a variety of cakes and teas and soups and appetizers and beers. We were so full by the end of the tour that we couldn’t eat the rest of the day! In the process we got explore so much more of La Candelaria than we would have on our own, and Gabriela knew all the history and highlights. We got so much out more out of this tour than we expected, and I definitely recommend it!

Excellent food tour - The guide Andres is very knowledgeable. We not only visit places with typical colombian food, he also tells stories and history about the city. The breakfast stop in the market and the ice cream stop were highlights.

An awesome tour! - We don’t usually go for the guided tours, but we were extremely happy and pleased with this one. Our guide Andres not only brought us to some delicious cool places (we would have never found on our own) but also told us endless interesting stories and facts on Bogotá. He was relaxed, down to earth and very straightforward. We were lucky to be the only ones on the tour so it felt like hanging out with a new friend. Highly recommended!

(A little bit) Weird and Wonderful food - Bogota Gastronomic Walking Tour is a fantastic experience and it truely transports you to very different (but all tasty) places and experiences. We started with a food market that served Colombian food from all different regions of the country, tasted some exotic fruits; had a cup of hot chocolate with cheese (the weird part) and tasted organic icecream (amazing variety) just before stoping in a really nice and trendy restaurant that had a menu inspired from traditional Colombian food - but of course they had their modern twist. And of course there was time for a cup of great coffee as well. Skip your breakfast before giong to this tour! On your way you'll see some fantastic architecture and hear great stories about Bogota and Colombia.

Bogotá’s Gastronomic Wonders - We meet our guide Raul at the arranged meeting place, on time. Raul guided us around the central historic areas of Bogotá. On our wander, we visited businesses that specialised in traditional Colombian dishes, delighting our taste buds. We got to see more of the historic sights of Bogota. At the end of the tour Raul guided us back to the starting point, which happened to be the National Museum, so we could finish our awesome day here. Thanks so much Raul!!!
