Koh Samui tourist fishing is a joke, dont waste your time or money! - What can I say.......I was very disappointed with the overall experience. I caught 5 fish 3 of which were smaller than the palm of my hand and would be classified fish suitable for a home fish tank or live bait for proper dinner/plate sized fish. As for the other two fish i caught (baby barracuda and baby snapper) were also both undersized and should have been release back to grow to their full potential. The water depth where the fishing took place was between 12mt - 18mt deep. I asked the captain if there was any chance to head to deeper water and he was reluctant to go out further as he said there are too many rocks further out. Fishing is done approximately 300-500mt away from the coastline. Food served on board was average (rice, lettuce, chicken and whatever tiny fish were caught)....money better spent on a meal and drinks back on dry land which would be more substantial. Whilst fishing is a seasonal thing and fish sizes and fish stocks vary at different times of the year, the operator needs to cater for these different times and adapt to the seasons to make the fishing experience enjoyable for the paying tourists. I've had better experiences fishing in Australia. My recommendations would be to stay by the hotel pool or beach.
