Highlights

Possibly after a great golden circle trip of your own, park your car at Gullfoss Café and you will be stunned by the massive trucks and super jeeps from Mountaineers of Iceland that await your arrival. Our driver will greet you at our meeting point sign and from there we start the journey to the glacial highlands of Iceland, driving from Gullfoss to Langjökull glacier.

The epic scenery on the way and the impassable road that our massive machinery eats through is an adventure on its own!

Once we get to the glacier we will step out of the monster truck and into our glacier hut for snowsuits and other accessories that keep you warm during the snowmobile ride.

When suited up we head to our parked snowmobile rows and the guide will go through the details of how to operate the snowmobile. No worries, it´s quite easy. After the short introduction, you select your snowmobile and once the guide signals you to go, the ride begins!

Riding the glacier and with good visibility, you will be emerged in the epic surroundings and lava formed rock mountains. Total whiteout is always a possibility but that is no less fun and what we truly call the moods of Mountaineers.

The ride will take you to our newly discovered ice cave that Mountaineers have built a custom entrance for ease of access all winter long!

The frozen ice is so pure and visibility into the ice is incredibleThe Brand New Ice Cave

The ice cave was discovered just before winter and was this giant opening that seemed endless. Our expert guides were in awe and already planning to maintain access since winter was just around the corner and with it a great deal of snowfall that would seal up the entrance. After building an access to the mysterious world of ice we are able to welcome travelers into a safe environment and actually, experience the unique natural beauty of the ice cap from within. The trip to the Ice Cave is an exhilarating snowmobile tour. When we arrive at the Ice Cave we will explore every corner and detail of it, although it´s mostly round, for approx.

We then head back to Mountaineers Glacier Hut and hop on the monster truck to ride back through the snowy terrain on our way to Gullfoss.

This is going to be the story you tell after an incredible trip to Iceland!

Favorite part of the trip! - This was an excellent adventure. Gorgeous scenery, the ice cave was good, not natural but man-made. But it was still super cool to see. My husband and I took our 4 boys. Ages 7-17 and they all absolutely loved it.

Snowmobile remains amazing!!! - The snowmobile was amazing. I would have liked it to be a little faster. The journey there was quite an experience. I don't like the cave. But a nice guide and I would climb on a scooter like that again!!

No fuss, all fun! - No fuss, friendly staff, transported and kitted up then straight on the snowmobiles. There was no long winded safety brief, just to the point and let's go! The heated handle bar grips were an unexpected bonus. The ice cave was basic but interesting at the same time. We had our 10 year old with us and would highly recommend this trip.

You have to experience it even once in your life - A splendid day, for me, who comes from a tropical country, the experience was dreamlike, driving through the snow at sunset is truly memorable. They provide all the equipment for the experience and explain in a simple way how to handle the equipment, they were always attentive to everything. Recommended.

Good time - The drive to the glacier was very bumpy and took quite a bit of time. Once we were there we geared up and the snow gear (included) kept us super warm! They gave snowmobile instructions outdoors where it was cold and very breezy so it was hard to hear. Wish they did some of that indoors because we missed some very important details We had to follow the group when snowmobiling for safety reasons so we weren’t free to do our own thing, but still fun. It was a littler short though, and a little pricey for what we got. The ice cave was closed which was a bummer but they gave us a refund on that portion.

Exhilarating! - Staff was incredibly helpful and impressive! Snowmobiling was such an incredible experience; it made up for the ice cave. The ice cave is man-made and not exactly what I was expecting, but I still 100% recommend this tour!

Underwhelming ice-cave and short snow mobile drive - Unfortunately, the tour wasn't really what we expected and I wouldn't recommend it if you are expecting a natural ice cave. As many people have written before, it takes quite long to go to the basecamp (70-80min) one trip and the tour as such is quite short. In the tour description we got it wasn't clear that the ice cave is artifical / man-made - so that was underwhelming. However, our tour started and finished on time and the staff was really friendly and helpful. Due to the size of the group, everything took quite long, the overall Snowmobile driving experience was therefore quite short. We were lucky as our group to the ice cave was small and more agile. Overall, I think it is overpriced for what is offered.

Nightmare in Iceland - We booked the tour with the timing 2pm-6pm. We did not depart the pick up area until 2:45pm and returned at 7:30pm! There are more than 50 people in a group! Everything takes forever. You snowmobile in a slow line and then go in an ice cave that is not worth seeing at all. DO NOT RECOMMEND!
