Bishkek - Burana Tower - Orto-Tokoy Reservoir - Song-Kol Lake

Bishkek - In the morning, the operator will pick you up from your hotel to embark on an awe-inspiring journey to Son Kol Lake. The first stop is Burana Tower in the quaint town of Tokmok, located 80km from Bishkek. As you travel along the Kazakhstan border, clear weather will reveal the stunning Tien Shan mountains. Tokmok, once the second-largest industrial city in Kyrgyzstan during Soviet times, offers glimpses of Soviet monuments as you pass through. The route also takes you through charming villages, providing a glimpse into local life beyond the capital.

Burana Tower - The guide will introduce you to the mausoleums and other structures unearthed by archaeologists. You will have the opportunity to climb the ancient tower for a breathtaking view of the Chui Valley and Tien-Shan mountains. Visit the small museum showcasing various archaeological artifacts and an open-air museum featuring ancient gravestones, rock drawings, and other fascinating historical items found in the region.

Boom Gorge - Boom Gorge serves as the link between Chui Valley and Yssyk-Kul Lake. The Chu River, one of Tien-Shan’s largest, flows through this scenic gorge. Boom Gorge is known for its diverse landscapes, with wooded and green slopes giving way to arid clay canyons. The gorge’s complex terrain is notable: narrow and winding in the west, it broadens into a wide valley in the east. This will be a stop for snacks and tea at a local restaurant, featuring national puff cakes with sour cream and tea brewed in a Russian samovar, offering a unique taste.

Orto-Tokoy Water Reservoir - This picturesque location offers panoramic views. From one shore, you can admire the opposite shore’s rising rocks and hills, with clouds so low it feels like you’re swimming among them. We’ll pause for photos before continuing to Song-Kol Lake.

Kalmak-Ashuu - Here, the ascent to Son-Kol Lake begins. The landscape constantly changes in color and texture, from rocky dunes to lush hills. You may encounter peacefully grazing mountain yaks, majestic creatures that impress with their strength. The vast meadows of the pass are home to mountain edelweiss, beautiful flowers that symbolize the mountains and inspire lyrical works. From the highest point, you can view the surrounding peaks and the valley where the ascent began, offering a breathtaking perspective of the journey. The road then descends, and the hike down is swift. The meeting with Son-Kol Lake is near. The journey through Kalmak-Ashuu Pass is an exhilarating adventure.

Song Kol Lake - Around 5 PM, you will arrive at the yurt camp by Song-Kol Lake. Check into the yurts and relax after the long drive. Enjoy free time before dinner, and as night falls, gather around a fire to appreciate the lake and stars.

Song-Kol - Kochkor - Bishkek

Song Kol Lake - After breakfast, the horse riding adventure begins. Ride to the mountains to see a charming waterfall. The journey’s highlight is the breathtaking nature along the way. The path is long, allowing for rest and capturing beautiful nature photos. On the return to the yurt camp, ride up a hill for a stunning panorama of Song-Kol Lake.

33 Parrots Waterfall - On the way to Bishkek, travel through one of Kyrgyzstan’s most spectacular roads leading to the Terkey Torpok Pass, over 3000m high, with more than 30 serpentines.

Kochkor - Stop in Kochkor village for lunch before continuing the journey.

Bishkek - Arrive in the capital city and enjoy dinner at a lovely restaurant in Bishkek. Afterward, you will be dropped off at your hotel (not included). This marks the end of an intense yet incredible tour. Thank you very much!
