Journey to the Heavenly Pastures

Bishkek - In the morning, guests will be picked up from their hotel to embark on an exciting tour. The journey begins with a visit to Burana Tower in the small town of Tokmok, located 80km from Bishkek. A knowledgeable guide will introduce visitors to the mausoleums and other structures uncovered by archaeologists during excavations. There will be an opportunity to climb the ancient tower, offering a stunning view of the Chui Valley and the Tien-Shan Mountains. The tour includes a visit to a small museum showcasing various archaeological artifacts and an open-air museum featuring ancient gravestones, rock drawings, and other fascinating historical items found in the region.

Boom Gorge - The Boom Gorge serves as a link between the Chui Valley and Song Kol Lake. The Chu River, one of the largest rivers in Tien-Shan, flows through this scenic gorge. This will be a stop for snacks and tea at a local restaurant, where guests can enjoy national puff cakes with sour cream and tea brewed in a Russian samovar, offering a unique taste.

The Orto Tokoy reservoir is another picturesque stop, providing a panoramic view of the first constructed reservoir, surrounded by the impressive dry mountains of the Naryn region. This is the only place in Kyrgyzstan where camels can be seen due to the specific weather conditions.

Song Kol Lake - After a 2-3 hour drive, the ascent to Song-Kol Lake begins. The landscape continuously changes in color and texture, from rocky dunes to lush green hills. Visitors may encounter peacefully grazing mountain yaks, majestic creatures known for their strength. The vast meadows of the pass are home to the mountain edelweiss, beautiful flowers that have become a symbol of the mountains and are celebrated in lyrical works. From the highest point, the surrounding mountain peaks and the valley from which the ascent began are visible, offering a breathtaking view of the journey’s scale. The road then leads to a descent, making the hike down much quicker. The journey through the Kalmak-Ashuu Pass is an exhilarating adventure, and soon, the Song-Kul Lake will be in sight. Around 5 PM, guests will arrive at their yurt camp at Song-Kol Lake. After checking in, they can relax after the drive, enjoy some free time, and later, light a fire to appreciate the lake and stars at night.
