10 out of 10 ⭐️ - Absolutely great choice! Smaller group with very knowledgeable and friendly guide! Besides taking us to the snorkeling spots, they took their time to show us a cost line with some local legend stories.

Multiple generations in a large family. - Fantastic experience. Very professional crew from start to finish. We had a large family, including grandchildren and grandparents. Everyone loved it. You check in at their store less than a mile from the dock. At the dock, they arrange the groups into different boats based on size. Our boat held about 20 people. The small size of the boat was a huge bonus for us. We felt it allowed us to be nimble in the water and see more things. We did snorkel at Captain Cook for about an hour, and it was nice, but then we went further down the beach to a second stop, which was truly fantastic. Everyone on our boat thought the second stop was better than the first because of large coral heads and beautiful fish. Then on the return trip back to the dock, our driver took us to multiple points of interest along the coastline, including caves, lava tubes, and a cliff diving spot. Our Captain was knowledgeable about the history of Captain Cook, the Hawaiian islands, and the geography which we were experiencing. Do not hesitate to book with this group. I thought the price was reasonable, the communication was excellent, and the experience was fantastic!

“Under the Sea” - We loved the second spot to snorkel. We have snorkeled in other regions and appreciate the different type of habitat for Hawaii. Safe, and beautiful scenery.

Perfect experience - From check-in to finish, the process was smooth and hospitable. The experience itself took us to two separate locations that provided quality snorkeling experience and time. Additionally, our captain was able to find pods of spinner dolphins and pilot whales to give us an unexpected surprise during our experience.

Loved it! - Went out with my mom (64) and daughter (9). Captain Rob was our guide. The experience was fantastic. We had never snorkeled before - we were carefully shown how to use the gear, told the rules, and given tips to have the best experience. The two sites were very different and we greatly enjoyed both. Captain Rob was thoughtful, told us great stories and kept everyone engaged and enjoying themselves.

Enjoyed the trip! Areas... - Enjoyed the trip! Areas of snorkeling were fabulous! Movie like water clarity, and truly was swimming in an aquarium. Crew was awesome! Friendly, knowledgeable, and kept safety as number one priority. We were able to get bonus time with Spinner dolphins swimming along side our boat! Totally worth it! Great job!

Easy Access to Excellent Snorkeling! - Especially as a solo traveler, I appreciated Dolphin Discoveries providing easy access to two of the best snorkeling spots near Kona. At Captain Cook, I would have had to access the spot via a steep trail and leave my belongings unattended on shore while I snorkeled or I would have had to rent a kayak and have it tethered to my foot while I snorkeled. While I could have accessed place of refuge via car, the shore entry is rocky. The small boat tour allowed me and only six other snorkelers to easily slip into the water from the boat and easily re-board via the ladder. Both sites were chock full of reef fish--and I also spotted several eels and a turtle! As a bonus, the captain paused en route to allow us to view a passing pod of dolphins! He also shared some history of this stretch of shoreline. Overall, this was a wonderful way to spend half a day which I would repeat on my next visit to the big island!
