An excellently run snorkel adventure for us first-timers! - We (in our 70s) just finished this trip today. It is one of the best run tours of any kind we have been on. From booking to completion, everything was run very professionally. They made our snorkeling easy and fun. They gave a short onboard snorkeling class for those who wanted it. Getting on and off the boat to snorkel you simply walk up or down steps in the water. All equipment was provided and in good condition. The boat was shipshape. The crew came across as actually enjoying their jobs (whether that’s true or not, we don’t know). Points of historical interest were pointed out and they made detours to let us see the Spinner Dolphins and flying fish that someone spotted. The package also included a tasty breakfast and lunch, along with great chips and cookies. And yes, there were many beautiful tropical fish to be seen! A great morning adventure! Note: I have only one suggestion: take out the comment about the queen having a “rockin’ body.” It offended us and is, in my opinion, culturally inappropriate.

Consistently excellent service & experience - This was our 4th trip over many years with Fair Winds. The crew & experience is consistently excellent. Examples: the food is yummy & plentiful; they provide prescription masks if you need one; the crew is quietly competent & caring; the ship is clean & well-maintained; and they genuinely care about reef health. The location at Keakekua Bay is one of the finest we've visited around the world.

Recommend snorkel company - This review is for the 930-230 snorkeling cruise. My teen son and I have snorkeled before but not extensively. We enjoyed ourselves. I enjoyed the food offered on the cruise - my son no so much but that is to be expected for a picky eater. Weather wasn’t cooperating so we really only snorkeled in the one bay - we had two stops but the second and most popular was by far the best. Saw lots of different fish. At one point my son was near one of the boat operators in the water. The boat operator pointed out some fish. May have been even better if this was practiced more. Or had someone in the water we could ask questions of. They offer pool noodles and or other flotation if you need it. Good equipment. We also did the evening snorkel. I will write a separate review on that. Long story short, would highly recommend this company and both tours to anyone coming to the BI.

Beginners 20s - 50s year olds - We had an amazing adventure with Fair Winds morning snorkeling at Captain Cook's monument. The staff were excellent and very helpful with instructions for me and my family of 5 (ages 55, 53, 26, 25, and 23) who were all new to snorkeling. My husband, 55 had declared for months up to the very day that he was not even getting in the water (not a good swimmer). After the other 4 of us had been in the water for 5 minutes, I was surprised to look up and see him getting in too! They have floating waist bands, RX goggles, flippers, viewing boxes and inner tubes (used by me and hubby) and have plenty of all. I attempted 2 different sizes of snorkel masks with assist in water, but quickly gave up and got viewing box and loved it! Our younger 3 enjoyed the slides too. Two bathrooms are on board and plenty of seats in shade. Amazing colorful fish in this area of super calm, perfect water. Food was good too. Ride out, they give history of area along the way. We all thought it was one of our favorite things we did in Hawaii. Definitely recommend to anyone new to snorkeling. Discount offered directly on their website. We came in that day on NCL Pride of America and had plenty of time to get there if you get off with the first couple tender boats and prebook Uber/Lyft or get a taxi when walk off tender. There were a few waiting when walked off. We got to Fair Winds at 8:00 and boarding didn't begin until 8:40ish.

Great snorkeling experience! - The boat was very roomy & comfortable with seating for everyone and plenty of room to walk around. There was 2 bathrooms which was great! They served breakfast & lunch and the food was very good! The crew was very accommodating with gear, check-in was extremely easy, they even supplied sunscreen. Snorkeling was great. The bay was calm and we saw numerous tropical fish and lots of coral. We even saw an eel. The boat ride to and back was enjoyable and we saw dolphins right next to the boat on the way back. I would definitely book again and would highly recommend this to anyone as it was very easy & fun for all ages!

Try It, You'll Love It. - 10 Rating Lady was first time snorkeler. Crew was very patient and helpful. She came out of the water with a big smile. I am very experienced but had a heavy chest cold. Crew was very helpful as I tended to run out of gas but did not want to miss this once in a lifetime experience. OBTW first time ever snorkeling with goats looking on from nearby mountain. Travel by power catamaran in a comfortable seat is far superior to bouncing around in an open Zodiac.

Fun trip! - We had a great time on this tour! The boat crew was so nice and helpful with recommendations. I loved using a larger boat with staircases versus a ladder, because I am a senior and not as coordinated as some ;) The on board meals were yummy.

Disappointing - The staff in the office and on the boat are all top-notch people-persons who were both knowledgeable and went out of their way to be helpful. There were FAR fewer fish to see than my previous tour fifteen years ago. That's not FW's fault. It was just disappointing. The vegetarian cuisine was meh at best. Very disappointing. We saw lots of dolphins, though, which was fun.
