- Great experience! Employees were very kind and helpful in explaining what to do and how to do it. Manta rays came right up, inches away! Overall 10/10 experience. Was cold but expected from late night snorkeling.

We just live in the Manta’s world - This is a must do, bucket list item you never knew was on your bucket list. What a special and incredible privilege we had being in the Manta’s world for a short time. Going out on Eka Canoe made it even more special as there are just 12 people and 3 fabulous guides with you. Our guides were knowledgeable, fun, serious about safety for us humans and more importantly the Manta’s. A massive thank you to Ni’Koa and the team for an excellent experience. PS Don’t be me and remember to bring a towel! 🤭

Awesome experience ! - What a great experience! I went with my wife and (almost) adult daughters. We did the last tour of the night that luckily still had space. We had seen it online but never pulled the trigger to book until we were in Hawaii. We booked from the hotel. Chayden was our captain and Kawika was our man in the water. They were both awesome and knowledgeable. We got our wetsuit tops and snorkel equipment and got our safety talk. We got settled in the boat, which was a very cool vintage reproduction double hulled canoe (with a motor) and we very quickly sailed out to the viewing area. Seriously, it’s like a 5 minute ride. We were in the same neighborhood as other company’s boats, shining all their lights in the water etc. More attractive to the rays I imagine too. This was the first time I snorkeled ever so it took me a few minutes to finally get my head down in the water to see. You’re holding onto this big float (kind of looked like a big black flat stretcher) with handles and you have a pool noodle under your ankles, so you can relax and enjoy the view. Kawika pointed out one of the first manta rays that came near us… a 13-14 foot ray. It was cool seeing the plankton in the water and then the rays coming up to feed. It looks like they’re coming right at you with their mouths wide open… and then they’d do a belly roll and you’d see their white bellies… looked so close like you could reach out and touch them… but don’t!! Major penalty for touching them and possibly very damaging to the rays! Kawika told us all about the possible negative consequences for the rays if you were to touch them. In any case, he said they were actually still a couple feet away. I had to empty my mask a couple times from water… as I said, first time snorkeling! My wife stayed on the boat and Chayden was great keeping her informed and checking in on her. You can’t wear glasses in a snorkel mask so she had no interest in going into the water not being able to see. She said she still had a good view of the rays from the boat in the lights. I’d say we saw maybe 8 rays that each took multiple belly rolls in front of us. Such a cool experience, it’s hard to describe. Definitely go and enjoy! Book in advance. Don’t worry if you haven’t snorkeled (I managed it) or don’t like boat rides (seriously, 5 minutes) etc. Totally worth the trip! Eka Canoe and Chayden and Kawika were great!
