Waterfall - Might be the best waterfall on the island.

Extraordinary private beauty! - Gorgeous private waterfall and property. The hosts were very cordial and accomodating. My only wish is that the weather would have played nice the day we went. Rained the whole time we were there.

Fantasy world beauty! - This was our favorite activity on Hilo side of Big Island and we hit all the big ones. The falls are beautiful in an amazing setting. It felt very exclusive. We barely saw any other guests in 4 hours. The staff and facilities were very nice. There were nice restrooms with a shower. The walk down to falls was easy with a little mud. Water in falls was cold. I recommend wetsuit if you want to swim for extended time. If you don’t have one a quick dip is still well worth it! I highly recommend this activity even with the entrance fee.

Best part of our trip! - We had an amazing day at the falls. We purchased a day pass expecting the falls to be over run with people. We were pleasantly surprised that access was limited and we were the only ones at that time slot. I hope they keep this location low key and it doesn’t get over run.

Exceeded expectations and then some - The experience of swimming in the waterfall pool was better than expected. The gorgeous hike down the hill to the pool was through an impressive bamboo forest. The entire property is so well cared for. For this trip, we just had a day pass; we would do it again, or next time we may consider staying at the Inn. No crowds, no fuss, just some of the best nature on the planet.

Know what you are getting into - As others have shared, this requires a very expensive entry fee for what you get. If you are doing a day pass, you cannot enter the property until you pay at the gate. It's easy to think you went the wrong way, since the information to enter is on a board vertical to the road. Posted prices are approx $50/person. Actual prices are closer to $70/person. This does not include paddle boards or other water items - they run an additional $27. Pay for them at the desk since the wifi isn't great down by the waterfall. It takes significant time to fill out the endless waivers and ID/passport is required, so be prepared for that. Bringing your own food is recommended as on site meals are expensive. They do have water, coffee, hot chocolate, etc. for free. Monitor conditions because you may not be able to access the waterfall if water flow is high. Calling is recommended if uncertain. Staff may or may not answer the phone - it took 15 min for someone to answer the buzzer to come to the front desk. We almost left. On the day we went in April, it was overcast and the water was cold. Since there is no beach, if you are not swimming or paddle boarding, there isn't much to do for an active family. We had the space for a few minutes alone, which was wonderful. Not so much for the others that arrived after, since spaces to sit are limited on the rocky, muddy banks.
