Story based luau - We attended this luau as a family on vacation . This particular luau is a story based on Hawaiian culture. If you are looking for something else in a luau this is not for you. We were moved inside due to weather which was fine the show was still great and they even provided the fire dancing at the end outside. Which our kids loved. The downsides were they seemed short staffed and while they tried to have order for the Buffett line and try to go by tables lots of people wjet randomly. Additionally as other reviewers have said the food was okay and it was cold by the time you sit down. We disintegrate go for the food so for us it was not a big deal.

I thought this luau was... - I thought this luau was going to be located on the beach. It was located on the resort lawn with a beach view to one side. They ran our of flowers during the lei making activity which was upsetting because only one of us got to make one. The buffet had some good food but some of the desserts and fruits both ran out so we didnt have the option to try them. For $200 a ticket they shouldn't have run out of anything. They did offer free (alcohol and non alcohol) drinks during the show. The show itself was great! They did offer after show pictures with the performers. We did general seating and it was first come first serve basis. We were there early so we got a decent seat. Looking at the layout it looked like every seat was probably decent. Im glad we didnt upgrade our seats. They do not provide leis at the show but we went to Safeway and bought some before hand..to be more festive. Overall it was fun and would recommend.

Meh - The food was nothing special and the atmosphere was OK. I would probably look elsewhere next time. The performance was good but a little tacky with the fireman bit.

Lovely, educational and interesting - It’s done rain or shine. For us, it was raining, so they had it in the conference center, with the fire dancer outside under the pavilion.

Fyi, the event is... - Fyi, the event is actually 2.5 hrs from the time they start to let everyone in until the end and not 3 hrs as stated. However, everyone was nice and helpful. The food was was good though not what I was expecting. The performance was good and entertaining.

Meh - We gave this Luau a try even though it is not that well rated on Tripadvisor. They have an open bar but we didn’t see any overly drunk folks. They say they have general seating, but we found out the hard way that some of the supposedly general seating tables are actually reserved, apparently for large groups. These tables were not clearly marked as being reserved. We were asked to leave the seats we had selected and by then most were taken, so we wound up at the back in additional tables they brought out. Apparently they hadn’t initially set up ample seating. The food was typical buffet style. The kalua pork and chicken were good, the fish was rather tasteless and chewy, and the teraki beef was tasty but tough. They had a nice selection of deserts that were very good. They didn’t unearth a roast pig as we have seen at other luaus. The fire dancer was very entertaining. The rest of the show was OK although somewhat tedious. The MC sounded like someone reciting a script rather than a storyteller. Other than the fire dancer we found the free hula show at the Keahou Shopping center (Fridays at 6PM) more enjoyable. If we were to do another luau in Kona we’d go for the Island Breeze at the Marriott downtown or Voyagers of the Pacific at the Royal Kona.

Would not recommend, big disappointment. - Had to be moved to indoors as inclement weather, too windy. Did not know (and weren't offered) to move to a better section. We were in back of the room. We were the last table to get to the buffet. The beef teri yaki was horribly underdone which is 'ok' however when its cold it is not ok. The food was picked over. Nothing fresh put out and all the food that should of been warm was cold. Could not see the indoor show, we asked the waiter to please ask the couple at the table in front of us to move over a bit and they refused. Waiter then got a manager who moved us. Fire show had to be moved outside. Again I could not see the show, all clustered. I got to see the show afterwards as I managed to get my arm out inbetween guests and record it on my phone. Very disappointed. Weve been to other luaus on the island which have been wonderful and conducted fairly. This was a waste of money and time. Would not recommend it. The fire show very cool wish I could of seen it live. They were not prepared to move luau indoors.

NOT worth the money at all!! - Not your traditional luau. Open bar not great, it closes once the show starts. The show was just not what I expected. I've been to a few and I feel my daughter's halau does a better show. The show was only 45 min.

Not customer friendly - For a hotel of this size it has a small restaurant with limited choice and is outrageously over priced. They tend to be more event friendly that customer friendly. The noise from events in their courtyard can be so noisy it can drive you out of your room and it goes on until 10PM. If you complain I was told "they pay more money than you" . I found them rude and unsympathetic. I do not recommend. The Luau was nice, not to loud and over before 8PM.
