- Sinharaja Forest Reserve - The Sinharaja Rainforest is one of the few remaining virgin forests globally. This lush, evergreen rainforest, recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage site, is a rare gem. Mysterious and vibrant with life, it represents the last extensive stretch of untouched rainforest on the island, spanning over 11,000 hectares along the southern edge of the hill country. Its incredible diversity of flora and fauna ranks it among the world’s top biodiversity hotspots. Over 130 bird species, including many of the 33 species endemic to Sri Lanka, are found here. The forest also boasts a rich reptile population and countless insect species, many yet to be classified. Mammals such as the purple-faced langur monkey and the giant squirrel can also be seen. Exploring Sinharaja on foot is recommended for an authentic jungle experience.
The tour includes a walk through the Sinharaja Rainforest, a waterfall and riverside walk, bird-watching trails, and a tea plantation walk, all perfect for nature bathing and swimming.

The journey begins at 8:00am with a pickup from your hotel. The tour team will meet you to transit to Sinharaja Rainly Forest. Your wildlife guide will accompany you through the forest, showcasing various animal species throughout. The forest hosts a plethora of diverse plants and animals. You may spot monkeys, snakes, chameleons, an array of birds, and a wide variety of tropical plants, trees, flowers and a stunning waterfall. During the tour, you’ll have an opportunity to swim and bathe at a waterfall within the forest and enjoy a meal. After an enjoyable tour, we will drop you back at a hotel of your choice. Such an amazing experience - We had a fantastic time during this tour. Our transportation was on time and the van they drove us in was comfortable and well air conditioned and our driver was very considerate.
The tour operator made an effort to personally meet us and bring us our water and snacks etc before we departed, this was lovely - thank you Roshan. The guide itself was fantastic, beautiful sights throughout the entire rainforest and our guide took so much time to show us all of the trees and told us the name of them and pointed out so many different species of lizards and insects as well as some monkeys. Halfway through the tour we were given a lovely homemade lunch which we ate at the Kakuna waterfall after we went for a nice swim. I highly recommend this activity.

Put this on your itinerary - Amazing trip. Unbelievable rain forest - colors, ever changing vegetation, trees, ferns, water ways and of course the waterfall and the other little ones. My fit-bit recorded that I walked 13 klms. Didn't seem like this at all as it was an easy stroll. The lunch provided was eaten at the waterfall and this was rather special. Pickup and drop off went smoothly. Special mention and three cheers to our guide through the rain forest Wigitha. He was very informative and just very happy to be taking us on this tour. He is very proud of the rain forest. I did hold a non venomous snake for photo purposes. If you can fit this into your itinerary please take the opportunity.

Pure nature -experienced guide and safe execution - Super tour with many highlights.Both the flora and fauna of Sri Lanka were brought closer to us impressively. Also the planning and communication was great. Thank you for the great nature experience.

Good experience - Really good experience, everything on time and good organized. Sinharaja forest is beautifulva we have seen, thanks to our guide, many interesing animals. The swimming under the waterfall amazing.

Amazing adventure in the rain forest - Beautiful rainforest with amazing wildlife! We saw snakes, monkeys, spiders, butterflies and beautiful birds. Our guide Gayan was amazing, he knows everything about the different plants and animals, gave us a great tour off the beaten paths! Definitely a great adventure!

A mist visit, but plan wisely - Sinharaja is a huge reserve with multiple trail options. We took one where a car picked us from Bentota and drove 2 hours to one of the reserve entrances. I did not catch the name of our trail, it was 10 KM long including the return, through the jungle and ended in a waterfall. It was splendid. We experienced multiple wildlife and fauna. The guide was a local and carrying lunch boxes for us. We were offered to dine beside the waterfall, but there were no infrastructure and chances of littering, so we skipped it. The trail towards the waterfall goes through a little rough terrain, be ware of that.
It was one of our best experiences in Sri Lanka. But if I had known there are multiple trail options, I would have planned better.

Tour in Sinharaja rainforest - Overall, nice experience. The driver was on time, and the guide was really professional. We saw some monkeys, snakes and lizards, and stopped swimming at waterfall where we ate lunch. If you dont mind a little hiking and like nature, this is for you!

Tough beautiful trip - We had a very pleasant and good guide Sam. The forest itself was beautiful. We haven't seen many animals. 1 chameleon, 1 spider, 1 snake, fish and some butterflies. We did see several waterfalls and under 1 you could swim. The stones were smooth and the fish sucked themselves to your legs.
I would only recommend this tour for people who are good walking and in good condition.

Fabulous guide, very interesting trek - We saw lots of jungle creatures and were very impressed by the young guide we had. He saw things we would never have seen on our own and had a fabulous experience, highly recommend.

Pleasant tour with great guide - We had a great day with a guide who has been doing the tours for 20 years. The paths you walk are partly developed, partly a bit bumpy. It was a very nice tour ! We were picked up from our hotel in Unawatuna and then brought back. The star deduction is available for the price. It was a full day tour, but it was only 3 hours in the rainforest and then a visit to a tea factory.
