Participants will explore how the Nazis seized power and established their oppressive regime, visiting key locations associated with these events. The tour will examine the operations of the Gestapo and SS, providing insights into their methods of terror and suppression. There will be ample opportunity to learn about Berlin during the war and witness the gradual destruction of the Third Reich’s capital from both air and land as the war turned against the Nazis.
The tour includes a walk through the Government district (Wilhelmstrasse), the heart of the Third Reich. Visitors will see the former Reich Main Security Office, headquarters of the SS and Gestapo, the former Luftwaffe HQ, The New Reich Chancellery, and Hitler’s bunker. The Soviet assault on the city at the end of World War II will be discussed in detail, and the many scars the city still bears will be observed. Several remarkable memorials to the victims and victors of World War II will also be visited.
