Situated in the city’s heart, next to the harbor and the renowned Bryggen Hanseatic Wharf, the market offers a diverse selection of fish and seafood, including salmon, cod, mackerel, and shellfish, along with traditional Norwegian dishes like smoked salmon, fish cakes, and fish soup. It’s also an excellent place to try local delicacies such as dried fish and various cheeses. Open year-round, the market is best visited during the summer months when the seafood variety is at its peak.
  • Det Hanseatiske Museum og Schoetstuene - The Hanseatic Museum and Schøtstuene are two interconnected historical buildings in Bergen, Norway. The Hanseatic Museum, housed in a restored Hanseatic merchant’s residence, offers a glimpse into the daily lives of Hanseatic merchants in Bergen from the 14th to 16th centuries. The museum showcases artifacts, tools, and furniture used by the merchants and provides information about the Hanseatic League’s influence on the city’s history.

Schøtstuene, or “Assembly Houses,” served as meeting places for Hanseatic merchants, hosting business meetings and social gatherings. Located in the Bryggen area, a UNESCO World Heritage site, both buildings are among Bergen’s top tourist attractions. Open to the public, they offer insights into the Hanseatic merchants’ history and their impact on Bergen.
