This will include a visit to Bryggen, a UNESCO World Heritage site, the area of Bergen Fortress and a leisurely walk past ancient wooden houses, cobblestone streets, and chimney houses, learning about the city’s history and its present day. This experience will provide you orientation and enable you to discover distinctive sites, otherwise difficult to locate on your own. The city’s slim passageways will transport you back to a time when the Hanseatic traders controlled the city’s trade. You will gain knowledge about the stockfish trade, life in the Middle Ages, and the Wharf’s role as a covert refuge during World War II. A short walk from the Wharf will lead you to the Bergenhus Fortress, the royal stone hall and the Rosenkrantz tower.
