- Osteroy Municipality - Sørfjorden, or South Fjord, is part of Osterfjord, a unique natural feature: a saltwater inlet encircling Northern Europe’s largest inland island, Osterøy Island, surrounded by mainland. We travel along the South Fjord to the crossroads at Trengereid, typically without stopping.
- Trengereid - From Trengereid, we take Route #7 towards the Hardangerfjord, usually without stopping.
- Hardangervegen - Hardangervegen, or Hardanger Road, is Norwegian Route #7, a scenic route offering stunning views of mountains, lakes, and waterfalls. We will pause for photos at two waterfalls: Fossen Bratte and Steinsdalsfossen.
- Fossen Bratte - A stop at Fossen Bratte waterfall, standing 259 feet (79 meters) tall, offers a fantastic view and photo opportunity. A brief walk to the waterfall’s base is highly recommended to experience the refreshing mist.
- Steinsdalsfossen Waterfall - Next, we visit Steinsdalsfossen waterfall, 164 feet (50 meters) tall, where you can walk behind the waterfall without getting wet. A walk to the viewpoint is highly recommended.
- Thon Hotel Sandven - In Norheimsund, we can pause for lunch at Hotel Sandven.
- Hardanger Fjord - Continuing along the fjord, enjoy the scenic beauty and charming villages along the coast.
- Skårsvatnet - After passing through Norheimsund and Øystese, we detour to Skårsvatnet, a lake with a large population of tame golden orfe, often visible near the shore.
- Fyksesund Bridge - After Skårsvatnet, we proceed to Fyksesundet, a narrow fjord crossed by the Fyksesund suspension bridge, built in 1937.
- Steinstø Fruktgard - On the other side of Fyksesundet is Steinstø, a small farming community with a fruit farm and café. We can stop for coffee, apple pie, and a fjord view.
- Hardanger - The Hardangerfjord, Norway’s second-longest fjord, leads us to Granvin.
- Skjervsfossen Waterfall - En route to Voss, we detour to Skjervsfossen, featuring twin falls plunging from 150 meters.
- Vossevangen - After Skjervsfossen, we reach Voss, home to Vangskyrkja, a church from 1277, and St. Olaf’s cross from 1023. We will stop to take the Voss Gondol cable car to Mount Hangur (2690 ft / 820 m).
- Voss Gondol - The cable car ride to Mount Hangur (2690 ft / 820 m) is included in the price and takes just a few minutes. The view is breathtaking! At the summit, a restaurant offers meals (not included) made from local ingredients, with a menu that changes daily.
The tour can be extended for an additional fee:
In snow-free periods, a short mountain hike can be arranged, starting and ending at the mountain’s summit.
In winter, the guide can assist with ski rentals and equipment for trying the slopes.
- Bergen - The tour concludes with a return to Bergen from Voss. The suggested return time is 6:30 pm.
