- Kannonzaki - Kannonzaki is a picturesque cape located at the southern tip of Himeshima, famous for its striking black obsidian cliffs, recognized as a National Natural Monument. Atop the cliffs is a small shrine named “Sennindō,” a revered site where locals pray for safe journeys and successful fishing.
The area provides stunning ocean vistas, particularly at sunset. It’s a tranquil spot with a viewing platform and rest area, perfect for photography and contemplation. Easily accessible en route to Himeshima Lighthouse, Kannonzaki blends nature, geology, and spiritual heritage in one serene, impactful setting.
- Himeshima Lighthouse - After completing the Seven Wonders route, visitors can continue their adventure by taking the eco-cart to the scenic Himeshima Lighthouse. The journey lasts about an hour, offering serene views of the coastline. Along the way, visitors can pause to enjoy a leisurely lunch at a local café or eatery, savoring simple island-style dishes before arriving at the lighthouse.
- Hyoshimizu Onsen - Hyoshimizu Onsen is a unique carbonated cold spring (approx. 24.9°C) featuring two baths—one hot (~41°C) and one cold, sourced directly from the ground. The spring’s history traces back to a legendary figure from the Nihon Shoki era, making it one of Himeshima’s Seven Wonders. It is believed to aid conditions such as diabetes, hypertension, skin and neurological disorders, and is even drinkable for digestive issues. The small public bathing facility offers sea views and vistas of Shikoku through large windows. Open from midday to evening, the entrance fee is ¥310 for adults and ¥150 for children from outside the village.
- Beppu - From Himeshima Port, take the ferry back to Imi Port and then a taxi to return to Beppu. This journey also takes approximately two hours in total, so be mindful not to miss the departure.
