Bamboo workshop, souvenirs, art - I had a very good time at the Space Beppu. The Workshop ist fun and the bamboo lanterns look so beautiful! Furthermore the staff ist very friendly and helpful. They know a lot about Beppu and its history and they are more than happy to answer your questions. You can buy souvenirs and art from lokal artists.

Amazing staff, cute shop and super fun experience for all! - Our 12 year old son saw this activity and asked if we could do it while on a long weekend in Beppu. This was such a fun experience to do as a family but I’m sure I would’ve had fun either way. Lol! It is such a clever use of bamboo and a great souvenir to take home. Our guide was Nu from Myanmar and she was so sweet and patient. Our son was able to do the whole activity without help. I would 100% recommend this activity. The shop also sells locally made items and art, has a book cafe and makes coffee. Overall 10/10 experience and I would happily do it again!

I had an amazing time... - I had an amazing time making the bamboo lantern today with Audrey!! The staff are all amazing and friendly people who make sure you are feeling comfortable and at home :) I also got really good recommendations and tips for places to visit and eat in beppu as well

We all had lots of fun - We had Nao as our instructor and she was great! Thank you for making our stay in Beppu memorable. Fun for the whole family. We also enjoyed the Halloween special mocha with ghosts.

First bamboo and lanterns made!! - The instructions were polite and easy to understand.
I made it a cat face. I should have drilled a bigger hole.
Well, that's a good first job.
If you make a picture that is wide because you cut holes in the curved surface, the hole at the end will face the other direction when viewed from the front, so you may find it better when you have a portrait picture.
I forgot about the Polaroid paper and the time it takes to get to the port, so I didn't get my photo taken, so I put it here.
Be careful when going by car, as there are many one-way streets when the road to the store is narrow.

Great experience in Beppu!! - Enjoyed a solo experience, which would have also been great with others, making a bamboo lantern. The staff was very friendly and spoke English. I wanted an experience that would give me time to decompress and have solo time before a work obligation started. This was perfect!!!

MUST MUST do! Even if its not this particular class, just see the space. - I cannot rave about this experience highly enough! We arrived early and were warmly welcomed by Loi, and the room was already prepared. He gave us an insight to the background of the Bamboo industry and history. We started our class and had so much fun. Very happy with a handmade souvenir. After, we were given an understanding of the Space Beppu "heart". A safe space for people to come. Read, chat, create, share a cuppa or a beer. It was quite beautiful. We were shown through the artist showrooms with an insight to their creations too. What we thought was going to be an hour visit, turned easily into 2 and leaving with several original pieces. The artist I purchased from even came to hand deliver! A perfect memory of my trip to Japan X

Great experiance and super friendly hosts - Space Bepu is the name of the studio and will help when getting transportation to the location. Everyone was super friendly and the project was so much for fro the whole family. This is a one of a kind souvenir you won't find anywhere else!
