• Bellthorpe - Bellthorpe Stays encompasses 450 private acres nestled in the hills of the hinterland at Bellthorpe, just over an hour’s drive north of Brisbane. Situated nearly 600 meters above sea level, the landscape transitions from dense rainforest to open forest, featuring diverse habitats such as palm groves, wetlands, and open paddocks.

The property boasts numerous walking trails, waterfalls, a wide array of birds and wildlife, and four self-contained cabins. Typically, day visitors are not allowed, but Brisbane Nature Tours has arranged exclusive access for you to explore the property in the morning.

The Rainforest Track will be our path, showcasing strangler figs, towering buttress trees, vines, and tree ferns. Bellthorpe Stays is teeming with birdlife, offering a unique opportunity to observe and listen to a variety of birds, including the Regent Bowerbird, Wompoo Fruit-Dove, Catbird, Noisy Pitta, Riflebird, Rose Crowned Fruit Dove, King Parrot, and many smaller birds like Honey Eaters.

• Bellthorpe - We will pause for a break at the stunning Heritage Waterfalls midway. On our return, we will explore the habitat of one of the world’s rarest trapdoor spiders. Along the palm-lined creek adjacent to the walking trails, the mystery of the burrows awaits discovery.

Before heading back to the Resource Center, we will visit the lily ponds, home to a variety of frog species.

• Bellthorpe - At the Resource Center, created by David, the owner, we will enjoy a cup of tea. This provides an opportunity to converse with David about the property’s remarkable flora and fauna.

Following the tea and conversation, we will proceed to Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve, where lunch will be served at the café.

• Mary Cairncross Scenic Reserve - From the reserve, take in the breathtaking views of the Glasshouse Mountains before enjoying lunch at the café.

After lunch, we will embark on another rainforest walk, offering a fresh perspective of this ancient ecosystem.
