Drive from Belize City to Orange Walk and then get on a boat that takes you on a picturesque boat ride to Lamanai via the New River. This beautiful, serene ride is a great way to start your day before you get to walk through and climb the temples at Lamanai. Ask your experienced guide for names of flora and fauna along the way. Your boat captain will make a couple of stops to mimic the call of the animals in the area and for you to get pictures.
Once at Lamanai, if you are not afraid of heights, climbing the tallest temple to get the one-of-a-kind view above the canopy will be a piece of cake. The roped steps lead up and down the temple for safety, rest, and balance. The guided tour will enlighten you on the life of the Maya people who once occupied this beautiful location.
