Cab tour and Crumlin Road Gaol - The black cab tour was without a doubt the most memorable part of our visit to Belfast. Our driver Danny gave a frank and yet completely balanced account of the political history of Northern Ireland, ‘The Troubles’ and current day issues. He answered our questions and shared his own lived experience of growing up in the area with honesty and some humour. Throughout the tour, Danny came and sat in the back of the taxi with us to explain in more detail, sharing newspaper articles and photos of past events and gave us time to walk around, take photos and even provided us with a pen to sign the peace wall. I would say this should be at the top of your list when visiting Belfast and I feel we have so much more to learn. Danny dropped us at Crumlin Road Gaol and signed us in after the tour.

Eyeopening Experience - Although I felt I had a basic understanding of the history of the Irish Troubles, our guide Eddie provided an entertaining, yet passionate narrative of what happened, while the images of the murals, and the peace wall, provided a dramatic insight into what this city has gone through, and is still going through. The idea of gates still closing the wall to vehicles and pedestrians every night, leaving two neighborhoods from the same city living in different worlds, is so difficult to comprehend. Eddie provided an informative unbiased description of the events of this timultuous time, while injecting some humorous anecdotes and personal stories. The tour of the jail was a self guided tour showing the history of the jail from the 1600's to the present. It was informative, with good use of multi media, although there were times where you had to wait while a presentation was completed before you could move on. I am not sure it would have been worth it as a separate tour, but as part of this combo tour it was worth it. Overall this tour package was spectacular. Cab Tours Belfast did a great job with scheduling, and our vehicle was a comfortable van. If you care at all about the history of Ireland, and specifically Belfast, this tour should not be missed. And ask for Eddie if you can.

Great tour and amazing information - We had a great tour with Thomas and we learned so much! I would definitely recommend the tour, and I would recommend Thomas. A tip, be sure you know how to get back from the prison where you are dropped off. We had no issue walking, but it is a long walk and not for everyone. Taxi's are hard to find without a cell phone to call one.

Deep dive into The Troubles. Worth your time and £. - The tour was very interesting, informative, surprising and valuable. It was so nice to listen to Danny our guide share his detailed, balanced and abundant knowledge base (as opposed to googling and you tubing for info.). I would recommend this tour to everyone.

Informative and Interesting Tour - The tour was very informative and interesting. Our guide was knowledgeable and from the area. He allowed us to ask as many questions as we wanted. The only thing to be aware of that we didn’t expect is that they do not bring you back to the starting point where they picked you up. After the tour we were left at the jail to do that tour and then were told we needed to find our own way back. We phoned for a taxi that never showed up and we ended up having to walk 30 minutes back to our hotel where we were originally picked up. We did not know this when booking the tour. Also, the amount of the tour seems very high for what we experienced. (230 pounds for 2 people)
