The Shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon - Visit the shrine of Our Lady of Lebanon, ascend the round stairs to the statue, and enjoy the spectacular view of Jounieh Bay. Also, visit the churches at Harissa, and take a cable car ride from Harissa to Jounieh, offering charming panoramic views.

Byblos - Explore the Phoenician city of Byblos and its highlights. Begin with its archaeological site, including a citadel, Roman ruins, and temples, then wander through its charming old souk to reach the ancient port, where stunning views of the harbor and boats await.

Byblos Citadel - Byblos Castle, a restored 12th-century Crusader castle surrounded by a 10m-wide dry moat, is located within Byblos’ atmospheric archaeological site, which contains the ruins of the Temple of Baalat Gebal and the Temple of the Obelisks. This impressive structure offers an excellent view of the ruins from the top of its foursquare keep. A series of Bronze Age dwellings is visible below the walls as you look towards the sea. Inside the castle, there’s a small museum and a room with information panels outlining the city’s history.

Old Souk - Byblos old souk is a historic market where visitors can shop for souvenirs and antiques or simply stroll along the cobblestone streets and admire the architecture.

Byblos Port - Byblos Port is an ancient port in Byblos, believed by the Lebanese to be the oldest port in the world. Around 3000 BC, Byblos Port was the most important timber shipping center in the eastern Mediterranean.

Qadisha Valley, Bcharre, and Cedars of God

Qadisha Valley - Qadisha Valley is one of the most significant settlement sites of the first Christian monasteries in the world, with many ancient monasteries set in a rugged landscape. The valley includes caves, monasteries, and cultivated terraces associated with early Christian activities.

متحف جبران خليل جبران - The Gibran Museum, formerly the Monastery of Mar Sarkis, is a biographical museum in Bcharre, Lebanon, dedicated to the Lebanese writer, philosopher, and artist Kahlil Gibran. Founded in 1935, the museum houses 440 original paintings and drawings by Gibran, as well as his tomb, furniture, belongings from his New York City studio, and private manuscripts.

The Cedars of God - The Forest of the Cedars of God, with its 375 trees, is the last remnant of ancient forests and one of the few sites where Cedars still grow. Highly prized in ancient times, it was a valued construction material for great religious buildings and is mentioned 103 times in the Bible. The Cedar is a symbol of the country, its pride, and prominently features on the Lebanese flag.

Deir Qozhaya - The Monastery of Saint Anthony the Great is situated at 950 meters above sea level in the renowned Valley of Qozhaya. The surrounding hills are covered with pine and oak trees, and fruit trees grow throughout the valley, which extends into the Valley of Qannubin to form the great Qadisha Valley, bearing witness to the history of eremitic life and the quest for holiness in Lebanon. Historians and scholars believe the monastery was first built and occupied by hermits in the early fourth century. It was looted, set on fire, and razed several times, but remnants dating back to the seventh century remain.

Sidon, Tyre, and Maghdouche

Sidon - Discover the main attractions of the majestic city of Sidon, starting with the Crusader Sea Castle, one of the most prominent historical sites in the port city. Then explore the Soap Museum, Khan al-Franj, Debbane Palace, and stroll through the old souks of Sidon.

Crusaders Sea Castle - The Sidon Sea Castle was built by the Crusaders in the 13th century on a small island, connected to the mainland by a causeway, as a fortress of the Holy Land. It is one of the most prominent historical sites in Sidon, Lebanon. The castle was largely destroyed by the Mamluks in 1291 and later restored by Fakhr el-Dine Maan II in the early 17th century. Old prints of the fortress show it to be of great beauty, but little remains of the embellishments that once adorned its ramparts.

Khan al-Franj - Khan al-Franj is one of Sidon’s main attractions. Built in the early 17th century by Emir Fakhreddine II, it served as a hotel for ambassadors and a center for commercial exchange between Lebanon and France. The hotel soon became a hub for literature, religion, history, industry, and diplomacy, becoming a home for culture and civilization. This typical khan features a large rectangular courtyard and a central fountain surrounded by covered galleries.

Soap Museum - Saida - The Soap Museum in Sidon specializes in Levantine soaps. Originally built by the Hammoud family in the 17th century, the museum traces the history of soap making in the region, its development, and manufacturing techniques. Visitors can see a demonstration of traditional olive oil soap making and learn about the history of “hammam” (bath) traditions. A historical section of the museum introduces artifacts found during onsite excavation, including clay pipe heads from the 17th to 19th century and pottery fragments. The museum building is an old soap factory from the 17th century, with parts dating back to the 13th century.

Our Lady of Mantara - Visit the shrine of Our Lady of Mantara in Maghdouche. The main sanctuary is a natural cave where, according to tradition, the Virgin Mary waited for her son Jesus Christ while he preached in Sidon, a pagan Phoenician town where Jewish women could not go. This is why it is called Mantara, meaning “awaiting.”

Tyre - Tyre is an ancient Phoenician port city and the home of Elissar, the Phoenician princess who founded Carthage. It was once renowned worldwide for its purple dye made from murex sea snails. Two main archaeological sites, “Al-Bass” and “Al-Mina,” testify to its historical significance. With a beautiful seaside location, it is a popular holiday destination with excellent and clean beaches. The town’s foundations date back to around 2750 BC, after which it was ruled by the Egyptians and then the famous King Hiram, under whom it prospered. It was later colonized by the Assyrians, Neo-Babylonians, Greeks, Seleucids, Romans, Byzantines, Arabs, Crusaders, Mamluks, and Ottomans.

Ruins of Tyre - Necropolis - Discovered in 1962, the necropolis consists of hundreds of stone and marble sarcophagi from the Roman and Byzantine eras. Several have Greek inscriptions or the names of those buried there, or their trade, such as “wealthy purple dye manufacturer.” Others have sides and covers decorated with frescoes and bas-reliefs of works from Homer and others.

Deir el Qamar - Enjoy a stop at the picturesque village of Deir El Qamar, where red roof tiles dominate the landscape. Discover Fakhreddine Mosque located at the Midane and visit the shrine of Our Lady of the Hill. Relax and admire the lush scenery on your way back to Beirut.
