2: Juyongguan (closest, 1–1.15-hour drive): Features a historic fortress (unlike most sections). Entrance fee: 45 RMB/person; no cable car.
3: Badaling (1.5-hour drive): Famous but crowded and commercialized. Not recommended on public holidays (heavy traffic, mandatory shuttle buses waste time). Entrance fee: 45 RMB/person; cable car: 120 RMB/person.
4: Simatai + Gubei Water Town (2-hour drive): Explore a replica water town (stroll, try snacks, evening bazaars) and a wild, authentic Great Wall section with mountain views. Entrance fee: 280 RMB/person (includes cable car).
