A different side to Beijing - The tour providers were very responsive and it was easy to arrange the tour at short notice. My guide, Dean, spoke very good English and was incredibly knowledgeable, including lots of fascinating anecdotes and details about Chinese culture and history throughout. The tour was timed to perfection: you catch beautiful golden hour cycling through Beijing's lovely parks and see the major sites lit up in the early evening. I highly recommend the tour for that reason; Beijing has a completely different character at night which should not be missed! The cycling itself was comfortable enough- Dean set me up in an appropriate bike and it felt safe cycling all around central Beijing.

Beijing’s best. - For the experienced cyclist the local Mobikes are less than your carbon dreams. Despite that this three hour tour was fantastic and Dean was a most knowledgeable and thoughtful guide getting us around safely and easily. He even booked us on his own Uber to get us back to our hotel when we finished. We actually found cycling around Beijing much safer than Melbourne. Getting around any city on a bike is a fantastic way to get your bearings and really get a taste for local life. Highly recommended.

Beijing by bike is a great experience - Dean was our very engaging, flexible and capable guide for our bike tour for our final night in Beijing. Beijing by bike is exhilarating and it is a great way to see the city. Dean met us just before sunset between the Drum and Bell Towers. He introduced himself and got us adjusted on our bikes for the evening (for the tours, he used a combination of Ofo and BlueGogo the night we were on the tour). While this tour hits many of the same sites you'll hit on any and every Beijing tour, seeing them via bike, in the evening and through the stories Dean tells is a combination that's hard to beat!

Disappointed - The reviews for this tour were full of how the guide told local stories and gave interesting information. Unfortunately we had a stand in guide who didn’t do this at all. The areas she took us to, she left us to walk around by ourselves, whilst she stayed with the bikes. So no information was given. The tour was supposed to be three hours but we finished after two. Due to the national holiday the road to Tiananmen Square was shut and she didn’t know what else to do with us so she just took us back to the start and seemed relieved to end it there. Since then we took a different bike tour which was full of interesting information about the area and realised all the things she COULD have told us about. If you book this tour, it might be advisable to check you are getting an experienced guide. I’m sure it could be very good with the right person.

Delayed by TWO HOURS, had to cancel - did get a full refund - I'm incredibly disappointed with the experience here despite all the positive reviews. I had only one day in Beijing so tried to pack the day with activities. I arrived at 4:55 pm to my 5:00 pm tour to be told that we were waiting for the other participants (which sounded normal). At 5:15 I asked how long we would wait to witch my tour guide said he'd check with his manager. The guide got off the phone to tell me very casually that we would wait until 6 pm. We I looked horrified, he innocently and genuinely asked me if I was "OK". I told him it wasn't fair to make me wait given I arrived on time. He urged me to consider waiting but said he'd call his manager and ask for a full refund. LONG story short, I waited until 6 pm for the tour guide to make another call and be asked to wait until 7 pm! Absolutely ridiculous. I have to be fair and say that 1) I did get a full refund 2) The guide paid for me to take a cab to my hotel. Nevertheless, I find this behavior absolutely unacceptable and urge the tour operator to change their policies.

The tour voucher said we must... -
The tour voucher said we must confirm the tour by phone or email 24 hours prior. Despite multiple attempts we were unable to contact the local operator by phone. A last ditch effort by email did get a response but too late for us to make the one hour trip across Beijing for the tour. We were not willing to make that trip without confirmation. Not sure why we should have to confirm a tour that was payed for in advance. If a local number is supplied, someone should answer the phone. Very poor service. Very disappointed we missed the tour.
